Controller for Managed IT Services Provider 

A leading provider of IT Managed Services in New York City/ Northern New Jersey is looking for an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead all accounting operations and support strategic decision-making through improved financial reporting and analysis. This onsite role is critical to our continued growth and success and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and month-end close 

• Oversee HR compliance 

• Lead and mentor accounting staff 

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports. 

• Develop and implement a formal budgeting and forecasting process for the organization and each department 

• Analyze client profitability and work with leadership to identify improvement opportunities 

• Ensure accurate sales tax filing and compliance 

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other relevant financial regulations 

• Improve internal controls and accounting procedures as the company scales 

• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions 

• Collaborate closely with the executive team to support strategic initiatives and business planning 

• Manage the company's tax compliance obligations, including federal, state, and local taxes 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field  

• 6 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a growing company or professional services/outsourcing environment.  Preferably experience with a IT managed service provider highly preferred 

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting 

• Experience implementing budgeting processes and improving financial systems 

• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on actionable insights 

• Proficient in Quick Books Online and other accounting software 

• Proven experience in financial reporting, analysis and planning. 

• Hands-on management style with a proactive and collaborative approach 

• Exceptional communication and leadership skills
