JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary
Incumbent safely and efficiently facilitates the movement of products through the pipeline system with principle regard to public life, field employees and the environment. This position is a safety-sensitive position subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations.

Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring line integrity:

  • Recognizing and responding to Abnormal Operating Conditions as outlined in DOT Part 195.

  • Responding to mainline leaks and/or ruptures to minimize the amount of petroleum released from the pipe.

  • Reviewing each field alarm received in the Control Center via the SCADA system and respond appropriately per the Operations Control Procedures Manual.

  • Operating remotely controlled equipment as pumps, valves, meters, provers, and additive injection systems.

  • Implementation and completion of pumping schedule.

  • Perform batch tracking of various products in the pipeline system, including calculating ETAs and ETDs of product changes.

  • Coordination of field personnel to start product movements, handle product grade changes and respond to emergency conditions.

  • Measurement responsibilities include proving meters, issuing End of Batch commands that activate Custody Transfer Ticketing of products in and out of Magellan's system.

  • Monitoring product storage tank levels and alarms.

  • Tracking cleaning pigs and internal inspection devices through the pipeline.

  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including System Integrity Plan (SIP) and OQ requirements and implement them into location work practices. Attend and actively participate in safety training meetings.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Satisfactory completion on a math test and Console Operator Basic Requirements Assessment (COBRA) simulation test.

  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.

Work Experience

  • Industry experience such as field pipeline operations, refinery, pipeline, chemical plant or control room experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Previous emergency response experience preferred.

  • Experience with pipeline control functions, computer programs, and equipment applicable to pipeline system control operations

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including computers

  • Experience compiling and preparing reports, logs, and correspondence

  • Experience interacting, advising, training and communicating effectively

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to: apply basic mathematics, including use of decimals and percentages

  • Ability to: verbalize information or instructions utilizing telephone and two-way radios
