Position Summary The Controller is a key member of the senior finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing the overall financial operations, accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting for the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial activities while supporting strategic decision-making and organizational growth. This position plays a critical role in maintaining strong fiscal health, managing a complex funding environment, and partnering with program leaders to achieve RNP’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Oversee the full cycle of financial accounting for both RNP and GHF, including general ledger management, month-end, quarter end, and year-end close processes, and preparation of timely and accurate financial statements,
· Manage day-to-day accounting operations, cash flow, bank reconciliations, property and vehicle leases, fixed assets and payroll oversight.
· Prepare authorized purchase orders; procure goods, supplies, and equipment in accordance with procurement policy.
· Manage benefit allocation processes, ensuring accurate distribution of funds while maintaining financial integrity and compliance with organizational policies
· Maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), and other regulations.
· Monitor organizational budget performance, provide variance analysis, and participate in quarterly budget meetings.
· Lead preparation for the annual financial audit, single audit, Form 990, 403b audit and testing, property tax and exemption filings.
· Collaborate with the CFO on long-range financial planning, budgeting, reserves strategy, and capital allocation decisions.
· 403(b) plan administration and debt/credit line management.
· Supervise and mentor accounts payable clerks, promoting professional development and a culture of accountability.
· Stay current on nonprofit accounting standards, regulatory changes, and best practices in behavioral health finance.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
· Thorough knowledge of GAAP (FASB ASC 958), fund accounting, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), and nonprofit financial reporting.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite preferred).
· Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Skills Required
