Summary / purpose of the position
The Staff Controller is the referent person within Finance for any headcount and staff costs related topic. In this role, she / he is in charge of building and analyzing personnel costs of French legal entities, as well as the implementation of new KPI, in line with the different operational controllers of the related units. The Staff Controller is also in charge of the reporting, analysis of global headcount and give guidance on staff costs process within the Group (outside France).
In the context of Polaris project, Staff controller is key to frame new ways of structuring, building, reporting and analyzing headcount related topics through a global, standardized approach.
Main responsibilities / job expectations
- Financial cycles:
- Responsible for delivery of Annual Budget and Forecasting (collection of assumptions from Operational Controllers, analysis to understand performance)
- Participate to year-end Flash Landing to estimate impacts
- Main interlocutor for any modelization
- Closing
- Validate with Shared Service France dedicated accruals (STI, profit-sharing…)
- Follow-up of exceptional / one-off items (litigations…)
- Ensure analytical allocations are correct
- Participate to the calculation of Tax Credit calculation (CIR)
- Prepare reinvoicing of all expatriate costs
- Performance monitoring
- Suggest new KPIs for the monitoring of headcount and staff related costs, in line with HR and Operational Controllers
- Share monthly performance through a specific dashboard for each cycle with main comments
- Tool
- Update TM1 Staff costs FR with alignment between payroll and dedicated cube in TM1 (GL entries…)
- Be pro-active in improving TM1 Staff Costs FR module
- Projects:
- Actively take part in Future Performance Management Framework through a review of processes, interactions, systems set-up and governance in order to bring standardized and consistent way of managing staff related topics (France, other Hubs and other countries).
- Review the way performance is analyzed for France and suggest, in line with Operational Controllers, new approaches
- Implement global Reporting for Top management
- Be main point of contact for Polaris on staff related topics
Knowledge, abilities & experience
Education / Certifications:
- Solid academic Background: business school or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering and / or related field
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Finance positions, with an experience of staff costs controlling and project management
Languages:
- Fluent in English and French
Key Technical Competencies Required
Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of finance business indicators in evaluating the company’s performance
- Experience with forecasting cycles and financial reporting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to details
- Ability to challenge the statu quo and be pro-active in suggesting new approaches
- Ability to deal with large amount of data, to synthetize them, to form conclusions and successfully present to key stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in French. Ability to prepare presentations and memos for an executive leadership audience
- Strong business partnering skills, ability to work with senior management and in an international environment
- Comfortable in a complex, global organization with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint and comfortable with IT systems (TM1 is a plus)
- Resilience and proven ability to work independently and as a strong team player in a fast-pace environment
- Potential and ambition to grow in the organization
- Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus
