- Perform building automation and control system maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues to improve system reliability, efficiency, safety, and equipment performance.
- Perform control system upgrades, including hardware and software updates, to bring systems to current revision levels.
- Identify and resolve issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, communications, programming, and other BAS components.
- Complete detailed service documentation, including work performed, problems identified, corrective actions, parts used, and outstanding system concerns.
- Submit accurate and timely work order reports to the Service Manager.
- Provide recommendations to customers regarding system operation, performance improvements, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.
- Train and instruct customer personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of building automation and control systems.
- Support Control Project Managers and construction projects when additional technical resources are required.
- Properly maintain and utilize company-provided tools, safety equipment, computers, mobile devices, and other assets.
- Follow company and customer safety procedures while performing work at customer sites.
- Perform additional duties and technical assignments as directed by the Service Manager.
RequirementsQualification Standards
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a related field; or four years of relevant experience installing and maintaining commercial or industrial control systems.
- Alerton Certified Engineer (ACE) certification preferred.
- Valid New York State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required.
- Strong knowledge of computers, operating systems, computer networks, and databases.
- Strong electrical background with experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic control devices and circuits.
- Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair building automation and control systems.
- Working knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems and their associated controls.
- Experience with BAS platforms such as Alerton, Distech Controls, and Niagara.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately document completed work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access; familiarity with SQL preferred.
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Ability to operate computers, mobile devices, printers, and other standard business equipment.
- Experience working with building automation system software, including Alerton, Distech Controls, and Niagara.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with computer networks, databases, and SQL.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive motions as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift or exert up to 50 pounds of force.
- Ability to safely perform field service work in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and customer facilities.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
