The Position
The Control Room Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and operations of Arevon’s PV (photovoltaic) and BESS (battery energy storage system) fleet. The role will be part of the Asset Management and Operations team and will report directly to the Manager, SCADA and Operations. The Control Room Operator will work closely with the plant maintenance team, SCADA team, contract asset management, performance engineering and power markets team to identify plant performance issues and work to resolve them while minimizing impact to project availability. The Control Room Operator will work to achieve maximum energy production while ensuring that personnel and equipment safety as well as regulatory compliance are given a top priority.
Key Responsibilities
This position will manage a wide range of duties including:
- Remotely monitoring and controlling a diverse fleet of PV and BESS facilities including co-located and hybrid resources.
- Ensuring personnel safety through the coordination of switching activities with the site maintenance teams, transmission system operators, and other nearby generation facilities.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including applicable NERC and ISO rules.
- Support site maintenance activities through planned outage execution including coordination with applicable transmission system operators, scheduling coordinators, and balancing authorities.
- Identify and address real time, forced outages and coordinate with appropriate internal and external parties to resolve while mitigating lost revenue.
- Other responsibilities as deem appropriate by the Manager, SCADA and Operations.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in power plant operations with a preference towards renewable and BESS operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers and vendors.
- Strong Understanding of outage reporting rules and requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to implement operational procedures and processes.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts with some overnight shifts.
