Control Functions Legal – Legal Counsel

Job Description 

Take your career to the next level with the Control Functions Legal team (CFL). You will monitor, analyze, report, and advise on changes in laws and regulations affecting Consumer & Community Banking (CCB), including Auto Finance, Business Banking, Card Services, Consumer Banking, Connected Commerce, Digital and Payments, Home Lending, Marketing, JPMorgan Wealth Management, and associated operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting CCB.
  • Draft clear, concise summaries of developments and their key impacts for legal and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with Legal and control functions across CCB on legal, regulatory, and change management matters.
  • Design, implement, and enhance legal and regulatory change management processes, including assessing and leveraging emerging technology.
  • Develop and refine prompts and other AI inputs to support legal research, issue spotting, and change-management workflows, consistent with applicable governance and controls.
  • Provide additional support to the team and CFL’s clients as needed, including responding to regulator, audit, and compliance inquiries, and supporting special research projects.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience 

  • J.D. or educational equivalent required.
  • Admission to practice law and compliance with all relevant licensing requirements, including the specific requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. 
  • Three or more years of experience in legal practice in consumer banking, financial services regulation, and/or financial services litigation. 
  • Excellent legal analysis and research skills, including issue-spotting. 
  • Knowledge of US state legislative and regulatory processes. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to draft and refine existing AI prompts and assistants.
  • Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, to take ownership of responsibilities, to collaborate well, and proactively solve problems. 
  • Multitask and prioritize work intelligently in a fast-paced and complex business environment. 
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment. 

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience 

  • Regulatory, government, or compliance experience. 
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning Large Language Models and Agentic AI.  
  • Business Intelligence Solutions Applications. 
  • Technological mindset/background.

Skills Required
