The Contract Specialist II works closely with corporate leadership to develop, negotiate and execute moderately complex contracts in a timely manner in accordance with policies and standards surrounding contract management and the contract renewal process. This position can work a hybrid or remote work schedule after initial training.
Must be local to Iowa to work onsite 2 days/week in Ankeny, IA.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to
- Review, draft, negotiate and coordinate the completion of contracts for payers which include various agencies, health plans and/or government agencies
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and uses discretion to escalate as needed
- Work in partnership with leadership ensuring contracting and other collateral information meets the needs of contracting elements
- Manage the RFP draft response process, completing, submitting and tracking all responses as they are due
- Accurately input and maintain contract documentation and data in company database
- Stay up to date with healthcare regulations and review contractual language to ensure compliance
Required Skills and Experience
- Associates degree in healthcare or business, or completion of a paralegal program or other related field, or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years previous contracting, paralegal experience in a regulated environment, preferably healthcare or managed care
- Experience negotiating, drafting, and implementing moderately complex contracts for managed care plans, health systems, or government agencies
- Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication ability
- Flexibility to be a hands-on player
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
- Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers
- Above average computer, organizational and follow-up skills: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, CRM Sales database
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business, or completion of a paralegal program or other related field

- Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
- Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
