About Laldia Container Terminal (LCT)

Laldia Container Terminal (LCT) is one of the most significant infrastructure developments in Bangladesh's maritime sector. Developed under a Public-Private Partnership between APM Terminals and the Chittagong Port Authority, this greenfield terminal will strengthen Bangladesh's international trade connectivity and create long-term economic value.

As Contracts Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class container terminal—from contract award through construction, commissioning and operational handover. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark project that will shape the future of Bangladesh's port infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Director, the Contracts Manager will lead the contractual and commercial management of one of APM Terminals' largest greenfield infrastructure projects.

You will manage the contractual relationship with the Chittagong Port Authority, the Independent Engineer and key project partners, while providing commercial leadership across consultancy, construction, equipment and technology contracts. Working closely with project, legal, engineering and procurement teams, you'll help ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with the Concession Agreement.

Key ResponsibilitiesContract & Commercial Management
  • Lead the administration of consultancy, construction, equipment and technology contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Draft, review and negotiate contract terms while managing contractual obligations, variations, claims and dispute resolution.

  • Ensure project contracts are aligned with the Concession Agreement and appropriately manage commercial risk.

  • Support procurement activities, including tender evaluations, contract awards and commercial assessments.

  • Maintain effective contract administration systems covering variations, claims, correspondence, payment certification, cash flow and forecasting.

Concession Agreement Management
  • Monitor compliance with the Concession Agreement, including contractual milestones, permits, environmental and social obligations and service requirements.

  • Manage contractual communications with the Chittagong Port Authority and the Independent Engineer.

  • Coordinate variation proposals, compensation events and contractual notices, ensuring compliance with agreed timelines.

  • Support governance forums, coordination committees and concession reporting requirements.

Risk, Claims & Governance
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.

  • Lead the management of claims, extensions of time, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution.

  • Monitor performance securities, guarantees, insurance requirements and contractual payment obligations.

  • Work closely with legal counsel where formal dispute resolution or arbitration is required.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner closely with engineering, procurement, project controls, legal and compliance teams to deliver integrated project outcomes.

  • Provide commercial guidance to project stakeholders throughout execution.

  • Identify opportunities to improve contract management processes and contribute to the evolution of APM Terminals' contract standards and best practices.

What We're Looking ForEssential Experience
  • Minimum 10 years' experience managing contracts on major construction, infrastructure or capital projects.

  • Strong knowledge of international construction contracts, particularly the FIDIC suite of contracts.

  • Experience managing contract administration, variations, claims and commercial risk.

  • Experience supporting procurement, tender evaluation and contract negotiation.

  • Experience working on complex multi-stakeholder projects involving contractors, consultants and suppliers.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience on port, marine, transportation or other large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working within Public-Private Partnership (PPP) or concession-based projects.

  • Experience managing contractual interfaces with government authorities, regulators or Independent Engineers.

  • Familiarity with dispute resolution processes, including expert determination or international arbitration.

  • Working knowledge of Bengali.
