Seeking to hire a Contractor based out of Argentina or Mexico for Fullstack Software Engineering Services.
Scope of Services:
As a Full Stack Engineer with backend leanings, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality features and APIs that are powered ML/AI models and services. You will work across the stack, contributing to both backend and frontend components, with a primary focus on scalable, maintainable, and performant backend services.
You’ll collaborate in a fast-paced Agile environment that values adaptability, proactive ownership, and continuous delivery. Our platform handles user interactions with Newsela content at scale, and we’re looking for an engineer who can turn ambiguity into structure and deliver reliable systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust APIs and backend services to work with the ML/AI services, models and infrastructure.
- Contribute to frontend feature development, ensuring seamless integration with backend logic.
- Work in the Next.JS and React ecosystems
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code across the stack.
- Take end-to-end ownership of feature development, from ideation to deployment.
- Collaborate with ML/AI and other teams to break down work, groom tickets, and plan sprints.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and QEs to turn goals into clear, actionable work.
Skills & Experience:
- You have 3+ years of experience in backend development with exposure to frontend technologies.
- You are self-directed, organized, and proactive in solving engineering problems.
- You have hands-on experience building and scaling REST APIs and designing performant, sustainable data models.
- You bring a solid understanding of relational databases and write efficient, optimized queries.
- You are comfortable interfacing and collaborating with sibling engineering teams.
- Experience working and integrating with AI systems and services is a big plus
- You’re comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely in cross-functional teams.
- You embrace Agile methodologies and contribute actively to sprint planning and refinement.
- Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience with Django, Pydantic, or similar backend frameworks.
- Experience working on full stack teams or with modern frontend frameworks like Next.js and React.
- Exposure to LLMs or machine learning model integration.
