Contract Specialist

Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area
Employment Type: On-site, Full-Time, Contract
Contract Duration: Up to six months
Schedule: 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Contract Specialist to support federal acquisition and procurement activities on a full-time contract basis for up to six months. This role will assist with the development, review, evaluation, and administration of contracts and procurement documentation in accordance with applicable federal regulations, agency policies, and established procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting pre-award and post-award contracting functions, preparing solicitation materials, evaluating bids and proposals, and ensuring contract documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop bid solicitation materials, including statements of work, terms and conditions, and other procurement requirements.
  • Prepare pre-negotiation positions, determine appropriate contract types, and support negotiation planning and justification.
  • Review purchase orders, contracts, and related documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Gather, compile, and evaluate bids, price quotes, and vendor submissions.
  • Research vendors and assess their ability to provide quality materials, equipment, and services.
  • Recommend the most advantageous bid or proposal based on evaluation criteria.
  • Draft final contract documents and assist with vendor award notifications.
  • Analyze cost elements in contractor proposals and support pricing and negotiation activities.
  • Support selected procurement projects and contracting actions through pre-award and post-award phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Specialized work experience directly related to federal contracting, procurement, or acquisition support.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations, contracting methods, and contract administration procedures.
  • Experience reviewing bids, proposals, purchase orders, or contract documentation.
  • Ability to analyze pricing, vendor qualifications, and contractor performance information.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following education requirements:

  • A four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with a major in any field; or
  • At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAC-C Professional Certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or government contracting environments.
  • Familiarity with pre-award and post-award acquisition processes.
  • Knowledge of IT equipment and services procurement is a plus.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time contract opportunity for up to six months. The work will be performed in the Washington, DC area. Exact reporting details will be provided in advance of the hiring process.
