Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced CONTRACT Senior Software Developer to lead technical initiatives at our innovative retail display technology company. You'll architect solutions for our device fleet management, mentor junior team members, and drive the development of sophisticated automation systems supporting cutting-edge interactive retail experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain complex Linux-based systems, including advanced scripting, custom tooling development, and system optimization
- Develop enterprise-grade PowerShell solutions for Windows system management and automation
- Build and develop sophisticated Python applications for automation, data processing, API integration, and system orchestration
- Design and optimize complex data structures and workflows using JSON and related formats
- Design database schemas, write complex SQL queries, and optimize database performance
- Provide technical guidance on hardware integration, system architecture, and best practices for handling sensitive electronic components
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions using GCP, AWS, or Azure, including infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices
- Lead full-stack development efforts, creating robust, scalable front-end applications using modern frameworks and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and associated frameworks, Python, and advanced software tools)
- Establish technical documentation standards and create comprehensive system architecture documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and solution architectures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 7+ years in software development
- Advanced expertise in Linux system administration, including shell scripting, system optimization, and security hardening
- Strong proficiency in Windows system administration with advanced PowerShell scripting capabilities
- Expert-level proficiency in Python 3, including experience with frameworks, libraries, and best practices
- Deep understanding of data formats (JSON, XML, YAML), database design, complex SQL query optimization, and full-stack web technologies
- Proven experience designing and deploying cloud-based solutions (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices
- Strong architectural thinking and ability to design scalable, maintainable systems
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering complex technical solutions
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior team members
- Outstanding communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated with proven ability to drive projects independently and lead collaborative efforts
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with IoT device management platforms
- Experience in retail technology or digital signage systems
- Agile/Scrum methodology experience
Physical Requirements
- The position is based out of our Miami, FL office
- Team is distributed geographically across multiple time zones. Must be able to lead and participate in weekly technical calls with engineering and production teams in China
- This is a dynamic leadership position requiring a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who excels in fast-paced environments and can drive results independently
