The Position

As a Contract Manufacturing Specialist within PTDS Production Enablement, you will manage outsourced clinical packaging portfolios and negotiate key supply agreements. The Opportunity:
  • Lead Global CMO Operations: Serve as the primary Site Manager overseeing clinical drug labeling, packaging, and device assembly outsourced across our international network of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
  • Drive Performance & Timelines: Proactively manage CMO onboarding, communication, and project timelines to ensure predictable, on-time delivery while maintaining strict cost and quality standards.
  • Master Vendor Management & Procurement: Partner with Procurement to run Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs), negotiate supply agreements, and lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities.
  • Shape Supply Strategies & Budgeting: Collaborate with leadership to define specialized supply strategies for non-standard products and own the variable cost budgeting process for CMO projects.
  • Oversee End-to-End Financials & Systems: Manage pre- and post-production packaging orders in the ERP system, issue Purchase Orders, review and approve invoices, and ensure full alignment in SAP.
  • Track KPIs & Represent the Function: Define, monitor, and report key CMO performance metrics while representing the clinical packaging function in global cross-functional processes like CD&OP.
  • Foster Capability & Capacity Building: Work closely with CMO partners to ensure long-term production capacity, alignment on operational expectations, and cross-functional synergy with internal Roche teams.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to identify efficiency opportunities, drive digital/process innovations, and solve complex supply chain challenges.

Who you are:
  • Experienced Supply Chain Professional: You bring a BA/BS degree (preferably in Supply Chain, Business, or a technical field) along with 5+ years of experience in the pharma industry, clinical supply chain, or contract manufacturing.
  • Strong Project Leader & Decision Maker: You have proven expertise in project management (APICS, PMP, or Lean/Six Sigma certifications are a plus) and a track record of driving complex initiatives independently with sound judgment.
  • Systems & SAP Proficient: You hold solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on proficiency in SAP/ERP systems and a strong eye for detail.
  • Global Mindset & Cultural Agility: You excel in cross-cultural environments, demonstrating high emotional intelligence and social competence when collaborating with global partners across different time zones.
  • Strategic Negotiator & Stakeholder Manager: You possess strong business acumen to negotiate agreements, build trusting relationships with suppliers, and align internal stakeholder priorities toward organizational goals.
  • Excellent Communicator: You are an articulate, professional communicator across all corporate levels, with fluent Business English skills (German is a plus).
  • Adaptable & Flexible Team Player: You thrive in a fast-paced, global matrix setup and bring the flexibility required to seamlessly collaborate across international time zones (e.g., US, Europe, Asia).
