Position Overview

CAE is seeking a dynamic and experienced Contract Manager / Commercial Lead to join our team as part of the Defence and Security Canada business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing contract execution, negotiating modifications, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and mitigating risks associated with contractual obligations. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of industry standards.

  • Act as a commercial lead, supporting business development in developing strategies to help the business achieve growth and stay competitive
  • Serve as a focal point of contact for customers (external and internal) regarding contractual matters by establishing good customer relationships and communications
  • Support the development and implementation of the negotiation strategy
  • Participate in contract negotiations with Customers to fulfil business requirements in support of Sales/Business Development Lead and / or Programme Manager
  • In close conjunction with CAE legal counsel, prepare and negotiate contracts and amendments to existing contracts and arrange for their approval
  • Provide guidance on compliance to terms and conditions of customer contracts, identify the appropriate flow down of such terms and conditions to potential subcontractors
  • Assist the Programme Management function by supporting subcontract negotiations as required
  • Identification of potential contractual liabilities, risks, issues and disputes, arising with customers, suppliers, partners and third parties, and report to CAE legal accordingly and jointly produce mitigation plans
  • Maintain contractual records, documentation of key correspondence, status and issue reports etc.
  • Support in ensuring compliance with all relevant Corporate Policies and Procedures relevant to bidding for and managing contracts
  • Any other duties as may be required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Commerce, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in contract management
  • Experience in complex negotiations
  • Strong understanding of Canada Standard Acquisition Clauses and Conditions, contract law principles and commercial terms
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Clearance 
  • Be eligible to obtain a Level I (Secret) security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using AI tools and techniques to improve contract management processes, decision making and drive business growth
  • Experience operating in a lead supervisory capacity within contract or commercial teams is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism in French and English is preferred

Base Pay Range

Our total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity.

$107,500K - $157,500K
