About the Role

Muon Space seeks a detail-oriented, proactive Contract Administrator to join our growing Legal and Contracts team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day lifecycle of both commercial and government (DoD, IC, and Civil) contracts. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including Growth (Business Development), Mission Engineering (Program Management), and Supply Chain—you will apply established playbooks and procedures to ensure contractual compliance, track deliverables, and maintain audit-ready records.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-to-mid-career contracts professional looking to build expertise in the rapidly evolving commercial space and defense sector under direct mentorship.

This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Contract Review & Drafting: Produce and conduct initial reviews of standard NDAs, Teaming Agreements, Subcontracts, Consulting Agreements, Vendor Agreements, and Purchase Order terms against established company playbooks and templates. Ensure basic flow-down of prime contract requirements under guidance.
  • Risk Identification & Escalation: Spot deviations from playbook positions and unfavorable clauses; prepare structured initial review summaries and flag business/legal risks for senior contracts counsel.
  • Proposal & Capture Support: Partner with Growth/capture team during the pre-award lifecycle; assist with RFP compliance checklists, representations and certifications, and proposal submission administrative packages.
  • Contract Administration & Deliverable Tracking: Monitor post-award execution, track contractual deliverables and CDRLs in project management systems (e.g., Asana), coordinate standard contract modifications, and serve as a day-to-day administrative point of contact for customer counterparts.
  • Government Systems Administration: Maintain and update Muon's active profiles, representations, and certifications across government portals including SAM.gov, PIEE, WAWF, and supplier databases.
  • Contract Operations & Records: Maintain an audit-ready digital filing system, ensure version control, and accurately log contract metadata and key deadlines across active and legacy files.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Growth, Mission Engineering, and Supply Chain on day-to-day contracting status, timelines, and deliverable submissions.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in contracts administration, subcontracts, or legal operations (including relevant internships), ideally with exposure to a government defense contractor, aerospace company, or tech startup in relevant industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree.
  • Government Procurement Knowledge: Basic working knowledge of FAR/DFARS concepts and familiarity navigating federal systems such as SAM.gov, PIEE, and WAWF.
  • Organization & Throughput: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage concurrent routine tasks and track shifting deadlines without dropping details.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear written and verbal communication skills ; ability to build productive working relationships across internal teams and external customer counterparts.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to resolve issues using analysis and investigation, applying company policies and guidance appropriately.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Active TS security clearance or eligibility to acquire one.
  • Exposure to space systems, satellite operations, or aerospace contracting.
  • Experience working with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools.
  • Professional certification coursework (e.g., NCMA CFCM or CPCM).
Salary

The salary range for this role is $66,000 - $119,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.

ITAR/EAR Requirements

This position requires access to export controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency. The Company may, for legitimate business reasons, decline to pursue any export licensing process.

  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools
  • Active Top Secret security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
  • Professional certification coursework (e.g., NCMA CFCM or CPCM)
