Job Description

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our business and play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence across the organisation.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about Lean methodologies, process optimisation, and building a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with operational and functional teams to identify opportunities, implement sustainable improvements, and enhance the way we work across the business.

In this role, you will lead and support improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, standardisation, service quality, compliance, and employee experience across the organisation.

You’ll facilitate workshops, coach teams, document and optimise processes, and support automation and innovation initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.  Some of your responsibilities will be:- 

Operational Excellence & Improvement Delivery

  • Champion and embed a culture of Continuous Improvement across the organisation
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, process gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Lead improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Facilitate root cause analysis workshops and cross-functional improvement sessions
  • Partner with operational leaders to implement practical and sustainable solutions
  • Monitor initiative progress and track benefits realisation

Training & Capability Development

  • Deliver Continuous Improvement training programs across the business
  • Develop learning materials, process documentation, SOPs, and user guides
  • Facilitate workshops, toolbox talks, and capability-building sessions
  • Promote awareness of Lean principles and operational excellence practices
  • Maintain training and capability dashboards to support workforce development

Coaching & Improvement Support

  • Coach teams on Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies
  • Support project teams in planning, tracking, and sustaining improvements
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning across the organisation

Process Documentation & Standardisation

  • Develop and maintain process maps, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Support standardisation initiatives across teams and operational sites
  • Ensure documentation remains current as processes evolve

Automation & Innovation

  • Support automation, digitalisation, RPA, and AI-driven improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with operational and technology teams to improve efficiency through systems and tools

Qualifications

Here’s what you will bring to the table

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong operational improvement background, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for driving sustainable change.  You will also have:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (essential)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or Process Improvement roles
  • Strong experience in process mapping, documentation, and SOP development
  • Proven capability facilitating workshops and engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience within shipping, logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or transport environments (desirable, but not essential)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office, including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as required

You are someone who takes initiative, enjoys solving problems and works well in dynamic operational environments.  You can build strong collaborative relationships, and you have a genuine passion for operational excellence and continuous learning.

This is a permanent position based in Auckland.   All applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.

Skills Required

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
