Summary of Objective:

The CI Manager will demonstrate accountability for the deployment of Lean Thinking across the site, ensuring alignment with the Site Strategy and Global Operational Excellence. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

  • Create in conjunction with the Global OPEX Director / Site Leader, the lean vision for the site and implement the Lean Maturity Index to establish an Operational Center of excellence.
  • Facilitate and Coach A3 projects, cross functional kaizen events and multi practitioner teams to drive best practice in process improvement.
  • Lead Business Critical Improvement Projects and the associated teams, as directed by the General Manager and Global OPEX Director.
  • Represent the Site by engaging with the Global Operational Excellence Lead, ensuring Global Standards are deployed (Lean Maturity Index), Site Best Practice shared, and results communicated.
  • Use margin and cost-based analysis to identify opportunities to implement improvement activity to increase profitability.
  • Maintain and report Site cost saving data in support of the Business Cost Reduction Targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and Train the Site Team to raise Lean Awareness, develop the lean approach and build in lean capability.
  • Be part of the Site Senior Management team, supporting alignment to site strategy across all departments, challenging non-value adding activity and facilitating Lean Leadership.
  • Leads implementation of Lean manufacturing concepts including KPI Development, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Process Mapping and SMED.
  • Drives site wide continuous improvement effort to maximize safety, quality, delivery and reduce costs.
  • Partners with Operations Leadership to design, schedule and lead Kaizen events that will positively impact the plant.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Be able to travel 25-50% of the time

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the stated position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Lean Black Belt or equivalent
  • BS/BA in a technical and/or business major is required
  • 5+ years leading CI Initiatives required; preferably in a manufacturing environment such as medical device, food or pharmaceutical.
  • Experience leading rapid and complex Kaizen events.
  • Experience with investigations, RCA and the development of CAPA's required.
  • Experience with KPI Development, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Process Mapping and SMED.
  • Quality system experience with FDA regulated products a plus.
  • Master Black Belt Certification a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to all levels of a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Visio, Tableau, Power BI, and Project a plus.

Travel: 25-50%
