This Internship is for a 3 month placement or 12 month placement
We are seeking a detail-oriented Intern to support elements our continuous improvements to processes on site. This Internship will expose you to various elements such as 5S, Project Management, Root Cause Analysis, TOC and FMEA.
The role will require a high level of focus validating Process Change Requests working alongside our Manufacturing Managers cascading improvements across product families to standardize the manufacturing method ensuring we comply with our customer specifications.
We are seeking to Optimise banned tool project, including visual management and process optimisation across the factory. Focus on 5S initiatives across the site through standardisation of workstations. Enhance the process of recording data across shop floor, including scrap and attrition.
To identify and implement a lean improvement strategy to deliver process improvements and cost savings, while establishing a best practice approach to manufacturing
To identify, lead and manage specific improvement projects utilising lean manufacturing and six sigma tools and techniques
To coach and train managers and operators in the theory and practical application of lean methodologies
To monitor improvements, continually auditing to ensure sustainability of improvements
To constantly review and assess the layout and process flow of the manufacturing facility through value stream mapping and other relevant tools to ensure the most efficient and effective
To monitor and identify projects to improve production productivity and machine efficiency through facilitating SMED activities and supporting Production Engineers in implementing specific projects
To review and set standards for 5S, training managers and operators in its application
To ensure all projects are managed from initial identification and justification, through to delivery with the appropriate measures to ensure delivery of objectives
To champion the implementation and improvement of standard operating procedures
To ensure all documentation is relevant and up to date within the area, including the generation of new documents and SOP’s as required.
To carry out training, assess and certify individuals as required and identified against the training matrices, to include the use of measuring equipment and continuous improvement techniques
To manage, review and update Key Performance Indicators daily, weekly and monthly, ensuring measurement is relevant and accurate
QualificationsEssential Skills & Experience:
Currently pursuing a degree in engineering/manufacturing/Quality or relater fields
Ability to project manage with process flows, interpret engineering drawings, managing manufacturing tolerances
Evidence of strong mechanical problem-solving capability.
Practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools.
