Your Role

A department “Continuous Improvement” has been created at Tube production Scranton to focus on many important initiatives and the Continuous improvement engineer will play a vital role to develop and implement those initiatives.

The purpose of this role has several components

• To drive continual improvement initiative within all facility activities

• Support developing culture of Kaizen/small improvement.

• Work closely with production and other cross functional team.

• Develop and utilize network to solve problems and implement best practices.

• Be a part of strategic growth and re-investment projects.

• Support BU Tube Americas NPD

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support to develop and implement Kaizen/small improvements culture in the organization to improve the quality, productivity, cost, safety or 5S.

• Training facility personnel in lean manufacturing and CI techniques

• Participating in corrective action and preventive action processes.

• Work closely with production and other cross functional team to help develop a problem-solving culture.

  • Improving established KPI’s (OEE, Yield etc)

  • Analyze production issues/rejections/customer complaints to understand problems and implement mistake proofing (Poka Yoke).

  • To work on process stability to improve the quality.

  • To support and implement a tooling management program (e.g Die life, Mandrel life, rolls, etc)

  • Identify training needs to create more knowledge and awareness on manufacturing.

• Support identifying risk and gaps related to new product (NPD) and help to bridge them. Also work closely with Technology team to qualify new products.

• Utilize network of other Alleima units to solve problems, learn new developments and implement best practices.

• Identify cost saving opportunities to reduce production cost.

• Lead and/or be a part of investment project teams to meet the project goals.

• Audits to ensure established production practices and policies are followed, and processes are maintained at peak performance levels.

Skills and Qualifications

• Understanding of lean production principles and have good Continuous Improvement skills.

• Strong background in hot and cold tube production technology.

• Having good understanding and experience with problem solving techniques.

• Ability to network with other Tube Production Units.

• English language skills – Proficient in English to the level required, both written and verbal. Second language is beneficial.

• Financial awareness.

• Objective & Task management role – motivated to take own decisions, acts and drives for results.

• Knowledge & Experience – understanding of the Alleima technology and specific business.

• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.

• Competitor and customer awareness.

• Teamwork: Participates and, in some cases, leads teams on CI initiatives.

About You
 

Education- A bachelor’s degree for Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc or similar.

Experience- More than 10 years of technical tube production experience. Minimum of 5 years of Continuous improvement experience.
