To deliver day to day execution of a segment of the Sites Operational activities, reporting to the Site Operational Excellence & Quality Manager. The specific accountabilities will be defined locally, based on the specific site needs, size and required number of employees covering these activities.

Key Accountabilities & Main Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement
- Lead the deployment of the DS Smith Way CI programme for the site alongside the site manager · Lead and support the development of site continuous improvement coaches. Ensure that visiting Divisional / Central CI support representatives are able to integrate into the site for maximum value · Work with Operations Excellence representatives across the Country to align improvement activities and prioritisation as well as contribute to the direction of the DS Smith way programme · Follow and promote DS Smith Way principles, dimensions and core tool set
- Track progress of implementation and report the Site Performance KPI's on a monthly basis, ensuring the site is on track and delivering the expected results. Responsible for the management of process/ product waste and achievement of waste KPIs · Support the development of a site audit structure for process confirmation that is effective and user friendly, allowing the Sites to audit effectively and identify opportunities for development. · Coordinate initial training events to equip the Site with the skills to complete process confirmation effectively. · Track progress of Audits and report the site status on monthly basis - ensuring resulting actions from audits are tracked through to completion.
Waste Management
- Responsible for the accurate measurement of waste on site to a granular level to enable good data driven improvement programs.
- Works with the Ops Excellence manager and GM to drive down waste on site, through continuous improvement and improved planning.
- Provide technical leadership to effect controllable waste improvement and reduce raw material use (paper, starch, water).
- Responsible for ensuring the site has an appropriate team based and data driven waste program, sharing best practice to drive results and capability development consistency.
- Ensure best practice for all areas that influence total and controllable waste performance is embedded within each department to deliver consistent performance.
Qualities/Attributes
Job Specific Technical Requirements
- Must have experience of quality systems and root cause analysis
- Must have good analytical and good communications skills
- High level of organisation skills
- Specific experience with laboratory equipment and materials testing
- Numerate and able to conduct and present data analysis
Desirable Qualifications & Experience Evidenced
- University degree in Engineering or a related Tecnhical field
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent seen as advantageous
- Knowledge of CI tools and techniques will be seen as an advantage
- Previous experience in a large industrial evironment will be considered a plus
