Summary
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is currently seeking a Specification Writer to develop procedures and manuals for equipment and systems used aboard aircraft carriers. As new technology is installed, the Specification Writer will work with vendors, engineers, and the Navy to ensure standardized procedures and manuals are in place for sailors and maintenance personnel. What You Will Do
- Prepares specifications from engineering change notices, customer specifications, and/or published data sheets.
- Maintains customer specifications files; reviews customer drawings and data; translates customer language into standard procedures and product flow.
- Be able to read drawings, communicate clearly and write procedures to assemble and disassemble equipment
- Aircraft carrier experience is a positive to have but not required.
- Any experience operating or maintaining equipment onboard carriers.
- The ability to grasp the concepts of equipment description and operation and TMCR contract requirements for content.
- Onsite working in office for training and remote working is available when sufficient in your job duties.
What You Must Have
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Be able to read drawings, communicate clearly and write procedures to assemble and disassemble equipment
- The ability to effectively communicate with co-workers to obtain resources needed to complete task
- Experience with developing and editing Navy technical manuals
- The ability to effectively communicate with co-workers to obtain resources needed to complete task.
Bonus Points
- The ability to grasp the concepts of equipment description and operation and TMCR contract requirements for content
- Previous shipboard experience and knowledge of Navy ships is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Job performance may require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Must be capable of climbing ladders, and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
