OVERVIEW

The Sr Manager, Content, Channels and Archives role is an exciting opportunity to lead strategic storytelling on behalf of General Mills across key stakeholder audiences including employees (current and potential), opinion elites, consumers and more. This role, and team, serves as a critical connection with how employees and consumers engage with General Mills. This individual partners closely with colleagues across the communications team including corporate reputation, brand PR, internal communications and employee experience and consumer care; and beyond, including marketing, Global Impact, HR and finance. Given the deeply embedded nature of this position, and connectivity to key stakeholder audiences, there is also an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership.

The role includes content and channel strategy, content development, production and distribution across General Mills intranet, corporate social media channels and website. This role also includes oversight of our corporate archives team: responsible for preserving, cataloguing, gleaning insights from and celebrating our more than 150 years of making food the world loves.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead the editorial content and distribution strategy for the external and internal corporate channels, including General Mills intranet Champions and blog; General Mills corporate social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter pages; generalmills.com; WHQ + JFB digital signage; and employee advocacy program
  • Lead LinkedIn strategy for GMI: content planning and engagement for select corporate platforms (i.e. DEI, recruiting) and executives; evaluate performance and results
  • Collaborate across communications and the company to prioritize storytelling across internal, external audiences with emphasis on Accelerate business strategy and supporting priorities
  • Manage the workflow, production and distribution of content for General Mills channels
  • Manage paid media budget, distribution and results reporting
  • Leverage data and measurement-based approach to inform and evolve the content strategy and distribution approach
  • Write and produce multimedia content on behalf of GMI, to be leveraged across channels in support of business priorities
  • Lead team of five individuals across social media engagement, content development and archives
  • Lead monthly cross-communications editorial meetings
  • Collaborate with business partners to inform content and channel strategies
  • Manage employee advocacy program
  • Recommend communications best practices from inside or outside the company to bring new approaches to the team
  • Serve as subject matter expert on corporate communications channel and distribution strategy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 8 years experience; preferred bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, social media or related field.
  • Excellent writer with proven success in a variety of formats; strong experience with compelling content development and delivery
  • Experience in content, channel, digital strategy and production
  • Strategic consulting & influence; strong executive presence
  • Experience with both external and internal communications
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to successfully navigate a matrixed organization with competing priorities simultaneously
  • Effective integrator and collaborator
