Sr. Copywriter/Manager
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Sr. Copywriter/Manager to join our health and wellness team and work side-by-side with fellow passionate pet lovers local to our Plantation, FL office. The ideal candidate will report to the Creative Director and would be responsible for content creation, social development, web and banner writing, and print assets, all idea based. They will lead concept creation and work through concept development and headline crafting with other designers and copywriters. Our goal is to deliver the highest-quality, on-brand content for Chewy and it’s sub-brand offerings, like Careplus (our pet insurance product), Connect with a Vet (Telehealth), and Pharmacy.
What You'll Do:
- Develop multiple key creative north star ideas
- Write Headlines, Scripts, Manifestos, Social, Banners, body Copy – anything and everything
- Work alongside Design/Art Directors, Key Stakeholders, Creative Partners and Project Managers from project inception to completion
- Attend kick-off meetings to fully digest the brief and ask any questions that are needed to craft manuscripts, work with Project Managers within their "workback" plans to meet deadlines
- Act as an owner throughout the process, writing autonomously and course-correcting where needed
- Conduct whatever discovery is needed to get started on a project—competitor analysis, mapping the consumer journey, looking at how readers intake the message and where the output leads to, leveraging legacy assets for copy, tracking down performance data, etc.
- Clearly communicate information based on briefs while adhering to brand guidelines and the Chewy Health voice/tone
- Articulate messaging according to the audience segment: veterinarians (B2B) and pet parent/buyer (B2C) and know what value propositions to lean into per bucket
- Curate messaging according to funnel phase (awareness/consideration) and channel best practices
- Help create and guide tone and voice brand documents
- Exemplify Chewy’s brand ethos of compassion and empathy for pets and parents
What You’ll Need:
- A portfolio of conceptually sound creative work that positively affected the business
- The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of concept development experience and copy creation
- Experience writing for B2C
- The versatility to switch-hit between channels and ensure that there is continuity from an omni-channel approach
- Ability to invent brand campaign ideas, write uniquely to each, and then move through funnel.
- A birds-eye view of how 360 initiatives work and how a holistic campaign comes together
- A backbone to commit fully to the integrity of great copy, but the wisdom to acquiesce where necessary
- The ability to pace quickly and volley round one drafts and subsequent edits with speed due to the high-volume we operate at
- A love of animals
- Willingness to pivot and agility a must!
- Position may require travel
- BA from 4-year university
- Agency experience a plus
- Portfolio school nice to have but not necessary
