Job Summary


Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is a private, nonprofit, Lasallian Catholic university serving students across Minnesota and beyond through career-focused undergraduate, graduate, and online programs.

The Enrollment Marketing Department is seeking a Content Specialist.  This role is responsible for developing and optimizing content across channels to support enrollment marketing and institutional storytelling. This role focuses on high-quality content execution, including program pages, brochures, email communications, and social content.

Working under the direction of the Senior Content Manager, this role translates messaging into compelling, audience-focused content that drives awareness, engagement, and enrollment.


Salary Range: $52,000-60,000/yr



Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Content Development
    • Write and edit content for:
      • Program web pages
      • Major/degree cards
      • One-sheets and brochures
      • Admissions communication flows
      • Email campaigns
      • Social media and digital content
      • And more
    • Adapt content for different audiences (undergraduate, adult, graduate)
  • Program Content Support
    • Support ongoing content needs across:
      • Undergraduate (College-heavy volume)
      • Graduate and online programs
    • Maintain accuracy and consistency across program materials
    • Execute updates based on revision cycles and priorities
  • SEO & Content Optimization
    • Optimize web content for search and engagement
    • Monitor content performance and recommend improvements
  • Storytelling, Social Content &  Repurposing
    • Develop student stories and testimonials aligned to editorial priorities
    • Repurpose content across channels (web, social, email, print)
    • Create social-ready content to support program visibility and campaigns
    • Support integration of content into marketing campaigns social distribution
  • Collaboration & Execution Support
    • Work closely with:
      • Marketing team
      • Admissions
      • Academic partners
    • Execute project requests
    • Support content needs identified by supervisor, and contribute to the development of that content strategy
  • Build a Student Content Network (Proposed)
    • Manage the day-to-day execution of the Student Content Network, a group of student contributors creating authentic content across programs and experiences
    • Recruit, onboard, and support student participants in partnership with Marketing and College teams
    • Provide content prompts and guidance aligned to editorial priorities (e.g., day-in-the-life, program experience, career outcomes)
    • Collect, review, and organize student-generated content for use across web, social, email, and print
    • Identify high-performing content and support repurposing across channels in collaboration with Communications and Marketing
    • Maintain consistent participation and engagement from student contributors through regular communication and follow-up

    Travel

    • Periodic business travel to Winona is required. University business travel-related expenses are covered in accordance with Saint Mary’s travel policies.
Qualifications

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably  in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in content writing for digital and print
  • Website content production experience required; knowledge of WordPress preferred.
  • Experience using analytical tools like G4 to inform content performance

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills across formats (short- and long-form)
  • Experience with SEO and digital content optimization
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling messaging
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills
  • Knowledge of AP style is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
