We opened our flagship location in Manhattan's West Village in 2020 and have quickly expanded across the East Coast. Small Door now operates in New York City, Boston, Washington DC, and Maryland with continued expansion plans in 2025.
We’re looking for a creative, self-starting Freelance Content Creator to bring the Small Door Veterinary brand to life across digital channels—especially Instagram and TikTok. You’ll partner closely with our in-house brand and growth teams to ideate, produce, and edit original content that educates, entertains, and connects with modern pet parents. You must be comfortable filming yourself, your pet, and others. These videos will be posted pre-dominantly on Small Door affiliated accounts.
This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes content creation, has and is passionate about pets, and has a sharp eye for trends, storytelling, and what resonates online. This role pays per project and can evolve into a monthly/yearly retainer.
What you’ll do
- Create short-form, vertical-first video and static content for social (primarily Instagram and TikTok)
- Concept and execute original ideas in line with trends and campaign themes.
- Work with our team to brainstorm creative treatments and storyboards
- Visit Small Door practices (in NYC, DC, or Boston) to capture pet moments, vet interviews, and behind-the-scenes content
- Stay up-to-date on platform trends and bring fresh ideas weekly
- Incorporate feedback and edits to deliver final, publish-ready content
Who You Are
- Experience creating content for brands or social-first audiences
- Strong portfolio of TikToks, Reels, or short-form video—ideally with pets or health related brands
- Proficiency with video editing tools
- Ability to work independently, turn around projects quickly, and self-direct shoots
- Has a pet (cat and/or dog)
- On-camera presence or ability to direct light talent (e.g., pet parents, vets)
Pay Range
This is a freelance position, paid per project or retainer based on agreed-upon content volume and scope. Rate commensurate with experience.
