Communications Consultant (12 Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Join our Member Experience team as a communications consultant on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Based in Darlington with hybrid working, you'll help create communications and campaigns that support our members in understanding their pension and planning for the best possible retirement.
Working across a range of digital and print channels, you'll translate complex information into communications that are clear, accessible and focused on delivering better outcomes for our members.
Who we areRailpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £36 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

The roleIn this role, you'll create and deliver communications that help members understand their pension and take the right action at the right time.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, you'll develop and improve communications across key member journeys, campaigns and change initiatives. You'll use insight, feedback and performance data to continually improve how we communicate with members, ensuring every communication is clear, accurate and easy to understand.
You'll:
Create engaging communications and campaigns across digital and print channels.
Write and edit communications that simplify complex pension information.
Develop communications to support member journeys, projects and business change initiatives.
Review and improve existing communications using member insight, feedback and performance data.
Produce communications across channels including email, web, video and print.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create accurate, member-focused communications.
Support improvements to digital communications and online member journeys.
Apply accessibility standards, plain English principles and Railpen's communication guidelines.
Monitor communication performance and use findings to improve future campaigns and activity.
Champion clear, effective and member-focused communication across the business.

The personYou're an experienced communications professional with excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. You're comfortable creating communications across multiple channels and enjoy taking complex information and making it easy for people to understand.
You enjoy working with stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams, balancing multiple priorities while consistently delivering high-quality work. You're also confident using feedback, insight and performance data to continually improve communications and member outcomes.
You'll bring:Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Experience creating communications and campaigns across digital and print channels.
The ability to explain complex information in clear, straightforward language.
Experience working with stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams.
A good understanding of accessibility, plain English and communications best practice.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality communications.
Experience working within pensions, financial services or another regulated environment.
