Incumbent is accountable for providing the bank with sound, quality consumer loans in accordance with Bank policy and regulation as well as servicing the current loan portfolio and customer relationships. To develop and manage loan accounts which meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank with a minimum of risk, in accordance with banking regulations. To ensure loans extended are properly documented and updated as necessary. To stay abreast of changes in the banking industry and the environment in which the Bank operates.

 

Essential Duties
  1. Represent the Bank to the customer in a courteous and professional manner. Furnish prompt, efficient, and accurate service.
  2. Give attention to detail and provide excellent communication skills.
  3. Maintain work area in a clean, neat, and professional environment.
  4. Participate in training sessions as required by supervisor.
  5. Interview loan applicants to obtain and analyze financial and other relevant information in order to determine the creditworthiness of each applicant and the merit of the individual request.
  6. Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will extended, including costs, repayment methods and collateral requirements.
  7. Collect and analyze interim information on outstanding loans under servicing responsibility.
  8. Collect accounts with an acceptable level of past dues.
  9. Visit customer businesses for inspection of plant facilities.
  10. Advise customers, when appropriate, on business management or financial affairs.
  11. Serve as contact for customers of non-loan related services.
  12. Develop customer base through an active solicitation of prospective and existing clients with an emphasis on selling bank products.
  13. Approve loans utilizing individual lending authority as provided in loan policy.
  14. Develop material for and make recommendations to Loan Committee on requests above individual authority requiring Committee approval.
  15. Counsel with and assist in the training and development of other loan officers as requested.
  16. Provide input to officers on loan requests as to credit quality, structure and pricing.
  17. Maintain active interest in local and national affairs which could have an impact on lending activities.
  18. Maintain involvement in civic and community activities, representing the Bank in a favorable manner.

Skills Required

  • Ability to interview applicants and analyze financial information to determine creditworthiness
  • Knowledge of bank lending policies, procedures, and applicable banking regulations
  • Skill in establishing and negotiating loan terms, pricing, repayment methods, and collateral requirements
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate loan documentation
  • Experience in loan servicing, monitoring outstanding loans, and managing delinquencies
  • Proven ability to solicit and develop customer relationships and sell bank products
  • Willingness to perform on-site customer business inspections
  • Authority to approve loans within individual lending limits and prepare loan committee recommendations
  • Participation in training and ability to mentor or assist in developing other loan officers
