About the role

We're looking for an insightful and culturally curious Consumer Insights Manager to lead the development and execution of Crunchyroll's global primary research initiatives. In this role, you will shape how we understand anime fans around the world—from their viewing habits and cultural influences to their values, needs, and behaviors. Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Research & Insights, you'll manage large-scale surveys, vendor relationships, and deliver strategic insights that inform decisions across marketing, content, product, and partnerships.

  • You will lead the design and execution of global consumer research studies, including annual user surveys, cultural trend reports, and audience segmentation.
  • You will translate primary research into strategic insights that support go-to-market strategy, fan engagement, and long-term planning.
  • You will manage end-to-end vendor partnerships, ensuring quality and efficiency from design to delivery.
  • You will partner closely with stakeholders in marketing, PR, content strategy, and product to embed consumer understanding in business planning.
  • You will synthesize insights from internal first-party data, external surveys, and cultural intelligence to inform strategic narratives.
  • You will champion the voice of the anime fan within the organization, identifying emerging behaviors and unmet needs.
  • You will evolve and scale internal insight tools and dashboards to democratize access to data across teams.

About You

  • You have 8+ years of experience in primary market research, ideally with a focus on entertainment, media, or cultural insights.
  • You have a strong background in survey design, analysis, and vendor management across global and local markets.
  • You are experienced in crafting insights that influence content marketing, brand strategy, or product development.
  • You are adept at storytelling with data—transforming complex findings into compelling, actionable narratives.
  • You bring a passion for anime, cultural analysis, or fandoms and an interest in exploring global youth behaviors.
  • You're collaborative, intellectually curious, and thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
About the Team

Crunchyroll's Research & Insights team helps drive the growth of our streaming service and brand globally by delivering impactful insights across the anime consumer, content, brand, and market intelligence.

As a member of CDI (Center for Data & Insights), you are joining a growing, diverse, and dynamic team of researchers, business analysts, data engineers and scientists that answer some of our most consequential and sophisticated business questions. This involves collaborating with internal and external partners and leading the delivery of objective and engaging insights to improve our business's understanding and ability to act.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

Three in-person days per week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the company-wide days for ALL team members to be in the office, and individuals may choose to come in more if they please.
