The Difference You Will Make:
Airbnb is looking for an EMEA Consumer Insights Manager to join the Global Consumer Insights function. This person will join a newly minted Research Team (combination of Consumer Insights & UX Research) that looks to provoke and inspire the organization with strategic and actionable insights to help define market opportunities & obstacles; generate, refine and evaluate product & marketing launches; and monitor market performance.
This position will help support regional and international consumer insight opportunities; be the ‘voice of the consumer’ with a good understanding of the EMEA region. This person will also manage qualitative & quantitative consumer insight projects, including vendor management, project design, analysis & reporting.
A Typical Day:
Day-to-Day Insights Projects
- Lead consumer research and insights projects end-to-end; identifying ideal methodologies and providing oversight into the data collection process and analytic work plan to ensure quality deliverables, all with an eye to the details and the bigger picture
- Define and manage project tasks and activities; including timelines, budget and potential risks or issues that arise, while providing relevant and timely communication to all partners, vendors and stakeholders alike
- Run analysis on data sets to find market and regional insights to help support decision-making for campaigns and initiatives in EMEA region.
- Fully leverages all market, competitor and product information to produce objective and actionable insights of market drivers, the competitive environment, promotional and treatment trends with key customer types.
- Prepares and presents research findings, through both written reports and presentations, in a concise and compelling way to client teams.
- Ensure all outputs are actionable, grounded in consumer knowledge, and guided by a broader understanding of business context and implications and inspire the team to uncover the “so whats” of all deliverables.
- Oversee supplier relationships, managing scope, budget and deliverables.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain collaborative, productive relationships with internal team members and stakeholders, as well as with current and prospective research suppliers
- Proactively identify and prioritize key business questions and evaluate appropriate solutions and research plans
- Act as an audience expert, an indispensable partner, and a strategic consultant to position the Consumer Insights & Research team as a key business partner across the organization
Broader Research Team
- Identify and implement new and innovative research techniques to address business needs.
- Partner cohesively with the broader Insights Leadership Team across business and consumer; avoid silos and seek out ways to add value by synthesizing and collaborating across the teams.
Your Expertise:
- 7+ years of relevant research management.
- A degree in the field of research, marketing or social sciences. Advanced degree a plus.
- Experience working at both a market research supplier and client side in an internal insights role
- Experience with both qualitative & quantitative research in EMEA markets required; experience beyond EMEA a plus
- High degree of proficiency in analytical tools and platforms
- Strong presentation-building, storytelling, and data visualization skills
- Well versed in quantitative & qualitative research methods and programs including foundational work like segmentations, concept testing, brand trackers, IDIs, focus groups, digital-qual projects, immersions, ethnographies, etc.
- Experience with international campaign measurement and creative testing a plus.
- Familiarity and understanding of analytic methods such as, but not limited to TURF, max-diff, choice-based methods, opportunity sizing, segmentation, predictive modeling, etc.
- Be detail oriented without sacrificing a broad strategic perspective
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive and cooperative attitude that fosters collaboration and teamwork both inside and outside the department.
- Seasoned and strategic multitasker, with a hands-on approach and outside-the-box mentality.
- Ability to make thoughtful decisions in real time to provide support and solve problems as they arise.
- Comfortable in navigating and excelling in challenging environments with no playbook for success, and able to simplify.
- Experience with GoogleSuite (e.g, Google sheets, Google Slides), a plus
- Ability to manage quant data files, run analysis on quant data (e.g., ability to weight data, run descriptive statistics, etc.), program in Qualtrics, query SQL, etc. a plus.
