Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. Why this role matters?

As a Consulting Senior Associate – Operational Compliance, you will support ERM’s global consulting delivery by assisting in the execution of operational compliance tasks, regulatory reporting, and managed compliance activities. Working within the Safe & Sustainable Operations (SSO) service line, you will work with senior consultants and global teams to deliver reliable, high-quality outputs on client projects. This role focuses on hands-on technical execution, data handling, and documentation support. It is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in operational compliance, learn from experienced consultants, and contribute directly to global client engagements, while also supporting the development of the CDH-SSO team.

What your impact is?

  • Support compliance engagements by assisting with operation compliance, data analysis, gap assessments, basic regulatory research, documentation, and drafting of client-ready deliverables. 

  • Assist senior consultants in interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into checklists, trackers, procedures, and simple governance tools. 

  • Contribute to permitting, monitoring, reporting, and audit-readiness tasks under the guidance of experienced consultants. 

  • Deliver assigned tasks on time and with quality, following QA/QC processes and internal templates. 

  • Support assigned workstreams, while maintaining quality, and timeline commitments.

  • Collaborate with global colleagues and CDH-SSO team members, actively participating in learning initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities. 

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.

  • Typically, 1+ years of relevant experience (including consulting experience) in operational compliance, EHS, environmental management, or a related area.

  • Basic understanding of environmental and EHS regulatory concepts across air, water, waste, chemicals, or reporting. 

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn structured problem-solving approaches. 

  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, follow instructions, meet deadlines, and produce quality outputs with support from stakeholders. 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills for preparing documentation and collaborating with global teams. 

  • Proficiency in compliance tools and MS Office tools, familiarity with data handling and basic dashboards is a plus. 

Preferred qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Master’s degree in environmental management, sustainability, EHS, environmental policy, or a related field.

  • Exposure to compliance platforms or trackers (e.g., legal registers, compliance calendars, Enablon, Sphera) through coursework, internships, or short assignments. 

  • Familiarity with international EHS regulatory frameworks such as Clean Air Act, RCRA, OSHA, ISO 14001/45001 (introductory knowledge acceptable). 

  • Interest in digital, automation, or AI-enabled tools that improve compliance delivery. 

  • Certifications or training such as ISO 14001 awareness, ISO 45001 awareness, or equivalent short courses. 

  • Prior internship or project experience in an EHS/consulting environment. 

Key responsibilities

  • Support operational and environmental compliance work, including regulatory research, data review, and preparation of compliance checklists and trackers.

  • Assist in reviewing basic regulatory requirements under frameworks such as the Clean Air Act, RCRA, Clean Water Act/NPDES, EPCRA, OSHA, and ISO 14001/ISO 45001, with guidance from senior consultants.

  • Support project delivery by preparing draft deliverables, maintaining trackers, updating dashboards, and ensuring documentation is complete, organized, and audit ready.

  • Follow QA/QC processes and internal templates; incorporate reviewer feedback promptly to improve quality of deliverables. 

  • Assist in maintaining compliance platforms, digital tools, and reporting frameworks by updating data, generating reports, and supporting basic dashboard maintenance.
