Job Description

Technical Leadership


  • Exercise strategic thinking and act as senior consultants to executive management of respective business lines, by providing input into the technology strategy and Multi-Generational Product Plan (MGPP).
  • Lead technical risk assessments of products and systems. For example, championing the use of the DFMEA process to assess and mitigate failure modes, along with Product Safety Reviews.
  • Responsible for key design gate reviews in accordance with the R&D process, which includes selecting right participants, governing review processes or tools and making sure that all actions are executed in a timely manner. Consulting Engineers are also responsible for establishing effective measures that enables engineers to perform design reviews properly in the long run.
  • Lead or participate Patent Evaluation Board (PEB) to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
  • Represent the business externally at conferences or in professional working bodies (IEC, CIGRE etc) and act as approvers for all technical publications before submission.
  • Maintain active relationship with relevant academic institutions to promote research projects and other academic cooperations.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical guidance to the Engineering/Technology leadership team as required, e.g., joining customer negotiations, supplier audits or lead technical rescues for most critical problems.

Engineering/Technology Practices


  • Safeguard design qualities with the support of business line Quality function. Organize lessons-learnt in one’s own domain and make sure they are well documented and communicated throughout the organization to prevent repeated mistakes.
  • Lead or mentor initiatives for streamlining and improving engineering processes, e.g., Root Cause Analysis process for engineering failures.
  • Champion lean awareness across the technical community within the business line.

Competency Governance


  • Rotate chairpersonship for Grid Solutions Competency Council for their respective disciplines.
  • Develop technical competencies by establishing and delivering structured technical training schemes across Grid Solutions.

People Development


  • Actively support the Engineering and Technology leadership team with staff development & succession planning.
  • Participate interviews for promotions or hirings within Engineering/Technology up to the level of Principal Engineer.
  • Actively mentor and coach identified high potential Engineering talents both within and across business lines.

Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • At least 15 years of experience in an engineering capacity

#LI-Remote - This is a remote position

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $152,400.00 and $254,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
