Job Summary
As a Director at ERM, you will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping the Safety & Risk practice in Asia-Pacific. This role combines visionary leadership, technical excellence, and business acumen to deliver world-class safety and risk solutions for clients in oil & gas, chemical, and high-tech sectors. You will drive growth, mentor senior consultants, and represent ERM as a thought leader in sustainability and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute ERM’s regional strategy for Safety & Risk services aligned with global objectives.
Drive innovation in methodologies, tools, and service offerings to maintain industry leadership.
Represent ERM in industry forums, conferences, and regulatory dialogues to influence standards and policy.
Business Development & Client Management
Lead business development initiatives to secure large-scale projects and long-term client partnerships.
Develop go-to-market strategies for emerging opportunities in Malaysia and Asia-Pacific.
Oversee proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations for complex engagements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with C-suite executives and regulators.
Project Governance & Delivery
Provide executive oversight for high-profile technical safety and risk projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.
Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Act as Technical Reviewer for deliverables, ensuring defensible analysis and alignment with best practices.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Build and mentor a high-performing team of consultants, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
Develop succession plans and talent strategies to strengthen ERM’s leadership pipeline.
Champion a culture of Health & Safety that ensures incident-free operations.
Technical Expertise
Provide guidance on advanced risk studies and safety assessments, including:
Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
HAZID / HAZOP workshops
Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA)
Bow-Tie Analysis
Consequence Modelling
Safety Integrity Level (SIL) studies
Safety Case Development
Recommend design improvements to reduce risk and enhance operational safety.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering and/or professional certifications (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety, NEBOSH) preferred.
15+ years in Safety & Risk Engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and driving business growth.
Deep knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, safety case development, and international standards.
Demonstrated ability to lead and grow teams, mentor senior consultants, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Strong experience in business development, client engagement, and strategic account management.
Exceptional ability to engage with C-suite executives, regulators, and stakeholders; excellent written and verbal English skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to travel regionally, and commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Skills Required
- 15+ years in Safety & Risk Engineering
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership role
