The Consultant provides VAT compliance services and advice to a wide range of clients operating across different sectors and countries. They continually help clients make informed business decisions in light of VAT changes and developments. They monitor and anticipate changes to VAT legislation and respond quickly with advice specific to clients’ compliance requirements.
The role focuses on preparing and submitting VAT declarations in all countries where clients conduct strategic transactions. It is also responsible for managing client relationships, communicating with clients and tax authorities in several countries, and monitoring and following up on the respective processes.
The position requires the ability to work with clients and tax authorities across several jurisdictions, as well as the technical VAT knowledge needed to provide services to clients in multiple countries. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and understand clients’ businesses and transaction flows to ensure that VAT compliance is completed efficiently and that VAT declarations and associated documents are submitted by the appropriate deadlines.
- Analyze VAT data submitted by clients and prepare and validate VAT declarations to ensure that completed forms comply with legislation and regulations in each country.
- Serve as a point of contact with the client and prepare reports and advisory emails for clients.
- Serve as a point of contact with tax authorities in the countries where clients have strategic transactions.
- Handle the receipt of and responses to information requests and audits performed by tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Assist Senior Consultants and Managers in dealing with other intricate business issues of clients.
- Follow up on VAT registration and VAT deregistration processes to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations in different countries.
- Helping businesses and individuals create strategies for dealing with VAT and prepare for their future in the financial market.
- Proactively research and update the VAT knowledge database.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Law, Management, or Economics.
- Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written. Other languages will also be valued in the recruitment process.
- Previous professional experience in a multinational company or environment is preferred but not required.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet navigation and research.
