Environmental Resources Management (ERM), is seeking an experienced REACH Regulatory (eco)toxicologist to join our well-respected team in Europe. This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy with strong track record of advising clients in the chemical sector, with a focus on agrochemicals, biocides and REACH, to help them to navigate the complexities of the EU regulatory environment.
ERM offers the full range of chemical regulatory consulting services including data gap analysis, study monitoring, risk assessment, preparation and submission of dossiers and post-submission support. Working with clients in the agrochemical, industrial chemical and biocides sectors, this person will play a key role to help our clients achieve a successful registration. We offer a great opportunity for an experienced professional to work in a collaborative environment as a member of our (eco)toxicology team. The role can be based in any of our offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, or Lisbon. We have a flexible hybrid working model.
Role responsibilities
Provide a high quality consultancy service in (eco)toxicology and REACH to clients and to other ERM staff to meet regulatory and business needs:
Understand clients’ desired outcomes and work collaboratively to ensure deliverables meet quality standards
Undertake evaluation and summarisation of (eco)toxicology data, chemical safety assessments and (eco)toxicology study monitoring, with a focus on the requirements of the REACH Regulation
Ensure awareness of the latest developments in all areas of (eco)toxicology and chemical safety assessment
Work closely with other ERM environmental fate, mammalian toxicology and ecotoxicology experts to maintain awareness of projects and general issues
Define actions and identify and utilize resources to achieve project tasks or objectives; ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget and that goals are aligned to desired project results
Develop expertise in new EU regulatory developments according to the requirements of the business
Undertake other scientific and administrative tasks on occasion, where this benefits the business as a whole
Skills & experience requirement:
Educated to at least degree level within Biology, (Eco)toxicology or a related field
Proven experience in conducting (eco)toxicological risk assessments
Demonstrated ability to design and conduct (eco)toxicology studies
Strong knowledge of relevant EU regulations and guidelines, including EU data requirements for (eco)toxicology studies
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and across disciplines
Fully experienced in the preparation and support of dossiers using appropriate software (IUCLID, CHESAR) with a focus on REACH submissions
Strong commitment to delivering high quality work that exceeds clients’ expectations
Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
Excellent communicator (written/verbal) with the ability to listen, organise and prioritise
Proficiency in ecotox statistical analysis software is preferable
Experience in non-EU regulatory requirements (Lat. Am, North America, APAC) would be considered an asset
Prior experiences in participation in advocacy groups
Excellent inter-personal skills
