LOCATION:

This role requires on-site presence at our client's location in Issaquah, WA.  All candidates must live in the Greater Seattle area or be willing to relocate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

We’re seeking a Principal Engineer with a passion for technical leadership, innovative problem-solving, and modern architecture design.

In this role you will help our client develop next-generation web applications, scalable microservices and mission-critical systems that reach millions of users worldwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and inspire engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, growth, and technical excellence.

  • Architect large-scale systems using microservices and cloud-native technologies (GCP or Azure), delivering solutions that are resilient, scalable, and globally distributed.

  • Build modern web applications with technologies like JavaScript, React/Angular, Node.js, and leverage tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless computing.

  • Own performance and security, driving initiatives to optimize system efficiency and ensure best-in-class security practices.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and other technical teams to align on architecture and roadmap priorities.

  • Shape technical direction, influencing engineering practices, design patterns, and the broader product strategy.

  • Simplify complex ideas, making them accessible and actionable for cross-functional teams to ensure effective collaboration.

ABOUT YOU

Your values:

    • Integrity: You believe in doing the right thing, even when it's uncomfortable, seemingly inefficient, or costly.
    • Purposefulness: You have a desire to serve others with your skillset and an openness to continuous learning and growth.
    • Ownership: You stick to your commitments, follow up with action, and seek clarity in communication & expectations.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years of hands-on engineering experience in languages such as C#, Java, or JavaScript.

  • Deep expertise in designing and deploying large-scale, customer-facing web applications.

  • Proven track record in leading the technical delivery of enterprise solutions.

  • Strong background in:

    • Microservices architecture using C# and Java.

    • Modern front-end frameworks (especially React).

    • Open-source and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).

  • Proficiency in modern development tools, including Git and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles, scalable architecture, and design patterns.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, or Lean).

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and team development.

WE'D LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Previous consulting or engineering leadership roles.

  • Experience working with both legacy systems and modern platforms.

  • Domain knowledge in retail operations (e.g., POS, ecommerce, supply chain, warehouse systems).

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive compensation with opportunities for additional incentives. The annual salary range for this role is $170,000-$230,000.
  • Work/life balance – we know there’s more to life than work! We encourage our team to pursue other passions, get outside, and spend time with family. We work with clients and consultants to set expectations for a manageable workload.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please fill out the form below (including uploading your most recent resume) and we'll be in touch! We know imposter syndrome can be a barrier to many great applicants. We hope you'll still consider applying. That's why we've made the application process as short and simple as possible.
