The Role

APCO Italy is looking to hire a consultant to join our Corporate Reputation team. 

This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic communications counsel to clients across a range of industries, including Food, FMCG, Tech, and Travel & Tourism. 

As a consultant, you will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of integrated corporate reputation programs and ensuring that all client work meets the highest quality standards.

In this position, you will manage media relations, craft and implement effective media strategies, and foster strong relationships with journalists. A key aspect of the role also involves positioning executives as credible thought leaders within their respective industries, helping to shape narratives that resonate with their audiences.

Beyond client-facing responsibilities, you will oversee project delivery, mentor and guide junior team members, and translate clients' business objectives into actionable, impactful communication strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client relationships across different industries independently 
  • Carry out press office activities, crisis activities and executive positioning
  • Contribute to the development of communication strategies and plans tailored to client’s business goals
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective project management, can effectively address issues, and make changes as necessary to improve account performance
  • Identify opportunities to expand client engagement and leverage contacts to create new opportunities
  • Actively participate in internal and client meetings, sometimes taking a lead, offering knowledgeable observations and suggestions
  • Manages and oversee the work of more junior colleagues, providing feedback and ensuring a high quality of work
  • Consistently demonstrate APCO’s values in all interactions with colleagues, vendors and client

 

Qualifications

  • At least 4 - 5 years relevant experience in strategic communications, preferably within integrated communications consultancies
  • Strong existing relationships with Italian journalists and the ability to secure strategic media placements and manage ongoing media engagement
  • Ability to work effectively with local (Italian) teams and international colleagues with a good level of English, speaking and writing
  • Good writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines
