Due to continuous growth, we are looking for 3 Connections Engineering Managers to join us at NESO.

The Connections Engineering Manager will have the unique opportunity to forge strong partnerships with network owners and customers, collaborating to develop innovative and efficient connection solutions that will not only fulfil customer requirements but also uphold the highest technical standards. By enabling the seamless integration of new generation and demand onto the system, you will play a central role in helping the UK realise its ambition for net zero system operation, all while ensuring the network remains robust and secure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of power system engineers to develop the optimal connection solutions and produce fit for purpose technical specifications for new onshore and offshore connections to the transmission network.
  • Lead the development of Construction Planning Assumption (CPAs) method by using the probabilistic modelling tool to create the generation backgrounds which enables technical analysis during the connections process and other initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Transmission Owners to ensure the designs for new connections are compliant with the system and Grid Code requirements.
  • Liaison with customers in the specification of scenarios required for bespoke technical assessments e.g., screening system oscillation scenarios and reviewing customer’s technical reports to ensure that all technical performance is adequate.
  • Explore process improvement and capability development opportunities for Connection Engineering.

About You

  • Demonstrated ability to build high quality, motivated teams and efficient internal and external working interfaces through active relationship building.
  • Advanced knowledge in SQSS and Grid Code.
  • Experience of undertaking connections studies with a good understanding of the principles of power system planning and operations. 
  • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management and report writing skills. 
  • Ability to deliver change and mitigate complex risks for the overall benefit of consumers.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary of £75,000 - £85,000 dependent on experience and capabilityAs well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

Skills Required
