Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to support its Development and In-Service Support programs. The Specialist will be responsible for supporting CM initiatives on projects and act as a strategic contributor for establishing product baselines. In this role you will work with and support multiple teams to ensure the integrity of changes to data and information are defined, traceable and visible throughout their lifecycles. As the primary CM contact, the successful candidate will leverage their knowledge and experience to drive CM priorities through a structure governance framework. 

Special Position Requirements

Schedule: 40 hours weekly Monday through Friday

Physical Environment: Onsite and remote in Ottawa or Halifax

Travel: Occasional domestic travel may be required

•    Must be able to obtain a NATO Secret Level Security Clearance
•    Access to material (parts/equipment), technical information/data, engineering systems and software is required for the position which are governed and controlled by the ITAR and/or Canadian Export Control List
•    Controlled Goods assessment is required based on the Canadian Controlled Goods Program

Key Areas of Responsibility 

•    Support Configuration Management (CM) and Engineering Management change processes 
•    Maintain the lifecycle accuracy and visibility of configuration items (CI) 
•    Coordinate and control the release of products
•    Champion the implementation of CM processes, improvements and tools
•    Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
•    Identify and resolve technical data baseline discrepancies and gaps
•    Develop strong relationships across the business
•    Possess exceptional attention to detail
•    Ability to organize tasks with minimal supervision
•    Perform configuration audits and communicate to affected groups
•    Evaluate and organize multiple types and volumes of CI data
•    Proactively resolve issues that may impact performance and efficiency
•    Interface and liaise with project teams and customers
•    Chair/lead Configuration Control/Change Boards (CCBs)

Basic Qualifications
 

  • A degree or diploma from a recognized university or college program, or certified as a technologist by a recognized provincial, state, or CMII Certification from a recognized institution

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the last 10 years as a CM Specialist or Senior CM Analysts

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the last  5 years working on Capital Projects or In-Service Support contracts

  • Experience in the selection, deployment, maintenance and use of CMS tools

  • Firm understanding and knowledge of Configuration Management standards (EIA 649, ISO 10007)

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting and driving cross functional CM activities

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience developing CM processes and procedures

  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate teamwork activities and goals

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple objectives simultaneously

  • Ability to build strong relationships across the business

  • Experience interpreting and executing project contract requirements

  • Proven problem solving and analytic skills

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • A degree in Engineering or a related field

  • CMII Certification from a recognized institution

  • 5 years’ defence/military industry experience

  • 3 years of experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

  • 3 years of  experience with PLM or Asset Information tools such as Windchill or AVEVA

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash 84,480.00 - 105,600.00 CAD Annual.
