The Opportunity:

As the Configuration Management Lead, you will be responsible for defining, maintaining, and auditing the baseline configuration of complex enterprise network systems deployed across naval and defense environments. You will lead the configuration control board (CCB) process, ensure strict compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity frameworks, manage baseline changes (ECR), and maintain accurate configuration records. This role requires close collaboration with systems engineers, network architects, cybersecurity specialists, and U.S. Navy stakeholders.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Establish, document, and manage the project’s Configuration Management Plan (CMP) and Navy-specific engineering policies.

  • Establish and maintain Functional, Allocated, and Product baselines for enterprise network hardware, operating systems, firmware, and logical topology configurations.

  • Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and ensure 100% traceability from initial requirements through deployment and operational maintenance.

  • Chair and facilitate the project Configuration Control Board (CCB), managing technical reviews, risk assessments, and impact analyses for all proposed system modifications.

  • Draft, review, and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).

  • Assess proposed network routing, switching, and security policy changes for potential technical conflicts, security vulnerabilities, or operational downtime impacts.

  • Ensure all technical configurations strictly adhere established policies and technical guidelines such as STIGs.

  • Coordinate with Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity leads to align CM processes with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Authorization to Operate (ATO) lifecycle.

  • Support configuration auditing for cloud and shore-based systems, verifying physical and functional configurations against baseline documentation.

  • Execute and document formal functional configuration prior to key program milestones and system handoffs.

  • Maintain detailed CM product artifacts such as SVDDs, configuration plans and ECRs.

  • Maintain real-time visibility into baseline status, open ECRs, and pending hardware or software modifications.

  • Drive continuous automation.
