The Sr. Configuration Optimization Analyst is the technical anchor of the Configuration Optimization workstream. Identifying margin improvement opportunities across the CDJR portfolio that will have an immediate effect.
This role is responsible for assessing market/segment sales/price distribution, competitive content application, as well as internal content configuration mix and price positioning. The team evaluates current sales performance based on overall volume/share, days to sell, incentive spend/efficiency, gross and net margin contribution. They identify configurations to eliminate and/or create, to streamline dealer ordering and optimize stock with best-fit vehicles, proven to sell faster and make the right vehicle, at the right price available to more customers.
This role will be the primary user of the analytical framework assessing content application, competitive benchmarking, market intelligence and dealer ordering. They will make recommendations directly to Brand Operations, Product Planning, Dealer Network and Brand Finance.
Own Configuration Optimization analytical model –
- Manage the data used to assess content application rates, configuration sales performance and profitability
- Analyze optimization model output and identify top performing vehicle configurations and assess against competitive and internal positioning data
- Identify internal value inversion/cannibalization and make configuration recommendations to eliminate
- Assess configuration CFTP vs MSRP to quantify incentive efficiency opportunities – leveraging configurations that sell faster to eliminate excess escalation
- Support business case development ensuring recommendations are properly vetted and ready to decision
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- 5 years experience in commercial analytics, product management analytics, pricing strategy, or automotive product planning
- Proficiency in scenario modeling and large transaction-level datasets
- Demonstrated ability to present analysis to senior stakeholders and defend methodology under questioning
- Experience working across product, brand, finance and other functional organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience in automotive OEM product planning, commercial strategy, or brand analytics
- Familiarity with trim structure design, order guide development, and vehicle lifecycle management
- Experience building or contributing to product business cases in a planning or commercial environment
- Exposure to BI tools and familiarity with data pipeline concepts sufficient to define requirements for engineering teams
