Job Summary:

The Component Engineer III works under general supervision to drive component selection and qualification activity through partnerships with external suppliers and internal design/development teams, ensuring specific parts used in Crane Aerospace & Electronics products are reliable and effective. They also provide technical support for addressing component obsolescence, and work with Supply Chain Management to address part availability issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Accountable for producing thorough and accurate work of suitable complexity that meets all customer specifications and company requirements for schedule, cost, producibility, quality, and reliability
  • Understand assigned company products and develop/apply component selection, development, qualification and production control standards
  • Research part parametric, quality and reliability data using third party tools, part manufacturer websites, and direct contact with suppliers as needed
  • Create new part numbers within engineering and business system tools and prepare specifications as required
  • Maintain component specifications and parts management databases within internal systems and third-party tools
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more specialized component commodity areas, supporting all aspects related to the special needs of those commodities
  • Liaise with Quality, Configuration management, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain departments
  • Support Failure Analysis and Root Cause problem investigation efforts for component issues
  • Assure compliance with applicable industry and customer standards; support internal and customer audits for Electronic Component Management processes
  • Provide and maintain all reports, metrics, data and/or other deliverables as required
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Component Engineer I: 0-2+ years with electronics design and manufacturing. Component Engineer II: 2+ years with electronics design and manufacturing. Component Engineer III: 5+ years as a Component Engineer or similar role within an electronics design and manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in electronic component technology, part qualification, and obsolescence management for a high reliability product line. Aerospace experience is a plus.
  • Skills/Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft 365 or similar work software; demonstrated Enterprise Requirement Planning (ERP) and/or Product Lifecycle Maintenance (PLM) software expertise; Ability to lead through influence and persuasion; Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills; Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills; Demonstrated ability to follow and improve processes; Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Education/Certification: BS degree in Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment, occasional laboratory or manufacturing environment.

  • Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Lab or manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

  • Flexible and willing to work overtime outside of typical office hours if necessary

  • Standing: 5% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Salary Range: Component Engineer II: $103,900 - $123,300; Component Engineer III: $124,819 - $148,341.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
