What We're Looking For

This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of Bank’s Compliance and Testing Program to ensure our products and services meet regulatory standards – whether we offer them directly to customers or through our fintech partners. This role will be responsible for managing the Testing, Monitoring and Audit Support functions in assessing compliance risks and controls implemented by the first and second line of defense, performing compliance testing and monitoring activities to assess the design and effectiveness of compliance controls within the Bank and at fintech partners, reporting and escalating control issues and any violations of laws or breaches of policy, validating adequacy of remediation taken to address reported issues, and coordinating and overseeing external compliance reviews.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and execute the annual risk-based compliance testing and monitoring plan in partnership with other compliance stakeholders
  • Develop compliance testing and monitoring activities, and related reporting, which provide internal and external stakeholders insight into compliance trends, themes, issues, and root causes
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of the Bank’s monitoring and testing standards for performing reviews that provide a valid assessment of targeted compliance functions, processes, and internal controls
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use technology solutions to reduce reliance on manual reviews
  • Act as a team leader, including training and developing new and junior staff, monitoring workloads of the team, and providing candid and meaningful feedback in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with other compliance teams to ensure a consistent approach to handling compliance issues
  • Lead multiple engagements while participating in the development of new initiatives across the Bank
  • Prepare deliverables and provide support for regulatory exams and/or internal audits
  • Ensure assessment execution is adequately documented in work papers and maintained appropriately to support the opinions being provided through the testing engagements
  • Perform issue management and testing/validation activities on a regular basis

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years bank compliance testing experience, including at least 4 years’ experience developing and managing junior staff
  • Experience in the design and implementation of compliance programs including the effective use of technology enabled innovative solutions in compliance monitoring, testing, and reporting
  • Extensive knowledge of operational processes and technologies utilized in banking, including consumer credit, card products, deposit accounts, loan servicing and collection, and payment processing
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques; structure potential solutions; drive to resolution with senior stakeholders
  • Proven track record showing ability to manage multiple large projects and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at the non-executive and executive level. Effective persuasion skills, a proactive and “no surprises” approach to communicating issues, and strength in sustaining independent views
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging
  • Expertise in banking laws and consumer regulations such as Regulation Z, Regulation E, Regulation B, FCRA, and UDAAP
  • Ability to understand and map compliance requirements for newly designed products
  • Experience supporting regulatory exams and audits
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
  • Strong interest in technology and innovation. Prior fintech experience a plus
  • CRCM and/or JD a plus

Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
