Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to assist the Compliance Office in Malaysia. This role will provide critical support in horizon scanning, project management, organise & maintain regulatory portals, communications and escalations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Compliance Officer and the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to ensure policies and practices adhere to local AML laws and compliance standards.

Your mission:

Support Compliance Office

• Assist Compliance Officers in Malaysia with regulatory horizon scanning, tracking, and managing both internal and external projects to ensure alignment with evolving regulations.
• Collaborate with the MLRO to draft and update financial crime and sanctions policies, ensuring compliance with local AML laws and effective policy implementation.
• Monitor compliance risks and KPIs, coordinate periodic governance and stakeholder review meetings, maintain robust compliance frameworks and documentation, and support liaison efforts during audits (internal, external, and regulatory).

Manage Regulatory Portals - Maintaining Communications Logs, reporting & Filings /

• Oversee regulatory portals by maintaining detailed communication logs, handling reporting and filings accurately, and ensuring all submissions are organised and accessible.
• Organise and securely store all regulatory communications for the organisation in both physical and digital repositories for easy access and compliance.
• Access and navigate regulatory filing portals to track, trace, and manage deliverables, filings, and reporting requirements.
• Handle escalations from regulatory bodies (e.g., Ombudsman, Fraud ORION), promptly disseminating information to relevant internal teams for timely resolution and response.

Projects and compliance specific reviews : Depending on the compliance program and criticality, engage & manage specific and thematic compliance reviews.

This role offers the opportunity to:

• Tackle advanced compliance challenges and contribute to building a robust compliance program.
• Collaborate with multiple teams across the company, supporting and solving compliance needs for Malaysia.
• Gain exposure to compliance projects in Malaysia, with the potential to expand support to other regions in a fast-growing company and region.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate: 

If you have a compliance background in the payments industry or other financial sector, great communication and organisational skills, and tons of motivation, then this role could be perfect for you!

Qualification 

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory support, or a similar role within financial services.
• knowledge of AML laws, compliance frameworks, and regulatory reporting processes.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with ability to manage regulatory portals, communication logs, record management
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
