A Brief Overview
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Health Care Compliance Program Integrity Specialist to join our team. The main tasks of the position will involve independently conducting reviews and offering guidance to our workforce on compliance matters. This will be based on relevant policies and procedures, including conflict of interest assessments. The incumbent will also be responsible for creating, updating, and managing policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance with federal/state laws, regulations, and program standards.
The specialist will play a pivotal role in facilitating coordination and project management for the Committee on Management Controls and Compliance. This role will require active collaboration with colleagues to implement department priorities. Our ideal candidate is someone who is organized, meticulous, and has a demonstrated understanding of healthcare compliance and ethics.
The Specialist manages comprehensive departmental documentation preparedness for demonstrating regulatory compliance effectiveness; ensures immediate availability of program integrity component documentation for government investigations; conducts assessments of the status of new and ongoing compliance program tasks and projects; produces and maintains cumulative compliance program activity records, analytical reports, and tracks and trends compliance activities; manages compliance program issue logs and dashboards; produces and manages timelines to ensure issue closure and response deadlines are met; maintains compliance documents and records for the Committee on Management Controls and Compliance and the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board.
The Specialist possesses the capability to appropriately implement policies and practices in accomplishing ethics and compliance tasks. Demonstrates critical decision-making skills. Ability to utilize policies, practices and critical decision-making skills in conducting thorough, timely and unbiased compliance investigations and document cases in Navex Ethics Point Hotline. Exhibits the proficiency to gather, confirm, assemble and formulate recommendations concerning ethics and compliance programs, issues, as well as policies and procedures.

What you will do

  • Supports the Manager and Senior Director with the day-to-day operation of the compliance and ethics program, including effectuating and implementing workplans for key strategic priorities.

  • Assists Compliance Department leadership with complete, accurate and timely closure documentation of complaints from patients, staff, faculty, and others, including hotline complaints.

  • Conduct independent reviews and provide guidance to workforce members on various compliance matters, making use of relevant policies and procedures, and regulatory research, including the completion of conflict of interest assessments.

  • Assists the Manager and Senior Director with the development of compliance program effectiveness reports for the Board Committee for each hospital.

  • Assists the Manager with the administration and organization of the compliance program, including maintenance of compliance program records. Tracks and trends compliance program activities; manages compliance program logs and departmental dashboards; produces and manages timelines to ensure timely resolution of issues.

  • Maintains policies and procedures related to the compliance program; drafts and executes program procedures, processes and workflows.

  • Effectively maintains collaborative working relationships to achieve increased satisfaction with and participation in the Compliance and Privacy Program.

  • Develop and deliver training and education programs for staff concerning ethics and compliance issues and practices.

  • Facilitate coordination and project management for the Committee on Management Controls and Compliance,. This includes scheduling, document preparation, and follow up on action items. Maintains accurate, completed and up-to-date compliance documents and records for the senior leadership Committee on Management Controls and Compliance for each hospital.

  • Manages comprehensive departmental documentation preparedness for demonstrating continuous regulatory compliance effectiveness; conducts assessments and gap analyses of compliance activities to support effectiveness indicators promulgated by government agencies; exercises independent judgment regarding the

  • Collaborate actively with team members to implement department priorities and projects, ensuring all tasks align with organizational standards and goals.

  • Participates in other projects as assigned and completes tasks within requested timeframes. Participates in periodic compliance program effectiveness evaluations.

  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of healthcare compliance and ethics, staying abreast of changing regulations and standards.

  • Demonstrate commitment to promoting and enhancing a culture of compliance and ethics within the organization and eagerness to learn and grow within the team and organization.


Education Qualifications

  • Required-Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or University.
    Master’s degree in Business Administration Public Health, Health Administration or related field, or Juris Doctor Preferred.


Experience Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally for presentation or review by senior leadership. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally to diverse individuals and groups inside and outside of Stanford enterprise.

  • Attention to detail in the preparation of investigation reports, draft statements, evidence review summaries, email communications as well as any other outward-facing document or communication

  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally for presentation or review by senior leadership

  • Knowledge and general understanding of federal and state compliance program requirements, particularly in relation to hospitals and healthcare, such as Conflict of Interest, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, EMTALA, etc.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer and standard business software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and e-mail

  • Knowledge of and ability to use department-specific and enterprise computerized information systems to support compliance functions. Experience using compliance ethics hotline systems such as Navex-Ethicspoint.

  • Possesses the capability to appropriately implement policies and practices in accomplishing ethics and compliance tasks. Demonstrates critical decision-making skills. Ability to utilize policies, practices and critical decision-making skills in conducting thorough, timely and unbiased investigations. Exhibits the proficiency to gather, confirm, assemble and formulate recommendations concerning ethics and compliance programs, issues, as well as policies and procedures.

  • Strong presentation skills, including but not limited to the ability to tailor presentations to a specific audience, and identify key messages.

  • Strong knowledge of change management theory and ability to implement and manage priorities effectively

  • Proactive and effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills is a key requirement of this job.


Licenses and Certifications

  • CHC-Certification in Healthcare Compliance or within 1 Year

  • Project Management Certification preferred .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $49.19 - $63.95 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
