JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for preparation and submission of documents for internal and external audits related to Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the development and implementation of compliance programs for the organization.
  • Monitors business activities for compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Ensures operating manuals and procedural documents stay current when regulations change.
  • Responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies and completes required compliance documentation.
  • Responsible for obtaining, organizing, reviewing and analyzing all documents required for external and internal audits; including Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. Responsible for reviewing audit documentation for any reimbursement issues as directed by manager.
  • Assists with creation of training materials for payors affiliated with assigned area(s) of responsibility as required
  • Provides training and support as required to ensure all involved staff are properly trained on reimbursement compliance policies and audit procedures.
  • Assists in researching policies and coordination of updates to the applicable electronic systems related to all state welfare programs affiliated with assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Assists with system updates, and changes as required to implement new payor guidelines or Apria policies and procedures, as requested.
  • Communicates and reinforces company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures for all product lines. This includes federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by manager.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least three years related experience is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • N/A

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent training and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret regulations and implement as required by the Company.
  • Leadership skills and negotiation skills required.
  • General understanding of health and related types of insurance coverage, as well as the managed care industry and its operations.

General understanding of contracting structures in durable medical equipment industry.

Computer Skills

  • Basic skills in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Word

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • College level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder. Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
