A position where you will help ensure the firm is compliant with the appropriate rules and regulations within the Investment Banking Industry. We’re looking for a professional to join our Compliance team in Paris in the Regional Country Compliance department.
OUR IMPACT
Our division interprets regulatory requirements to ensure the firm is in compliance and determines how to appropriately pursue global market opportunities. Our associate monitor regulatory trends in every business where the firm operates and in particular in line with the French banking and financial regulation. You'll be part of a team with the Head of the GS Paris Compliance and with a lot of interactions with colleagues based in London and in Frankfurt and in some other GS offices from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. We look for those who possess sound judgment, curiosity, independent and are able to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape.
The Paris Regional Country Compliance department provides centralised compliance functions including Financial Crime Compliance role for the businesses based in the GS Paris office (Global markets, Investment Banking, Private Wealth Management and Asset Management…).
Involved in assessing the regulatory risks attributed to the Firms business and contributing to the evolution of the Firm’s Compliance Program designed to support compliance with laws, rules and regulatory requirements.
FRANCE COMPLIANCE TEAM :
The Paris Regional Country Compliance team is part of the Global Compliance department which is responsible for the provision of compliance services to the Firm.
The Paris Regional Country Compliance team is responsible for providing regulatory interpretation and advice, policy and training on regulatory matters to Paris-based businesses. It also performs compliance risk assessment, advises on new product development and implementation, interfaces with the national competent authorities and undertakes Compliance controls, monitoring and testing. It ensures in particular adherence to European and national laws and regulations relevant for the Paris Branches of Goldman Sachs Bank Europe S.E. and of Goldman Sachs International and Goldman Sachs Paris inc & Cie and its employees such as MiFID II, MiFIR, Market Abuse Regulation, EU AML Directives/regulations and AMF and ACPR regulations.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Assessing the regulatory risks, regulation changes and potential impacts
- Completing the control plan of the GS Paris entities and investigate cases appropriately
- Working on AMF and ACPR regulatory questionnaire and reporting and any potential ad hoc requests from regulators
- Maintaining a regulatory and legal watch and implementing it in liaison with the other Compliance departments of the firm
- Establishing and maintaining the appropriate plans and processes to ensure compliance
- Reviewing client files, applicable KYC and analyses AML alerts,
- Reviewing marketing materials
- Conducting training sessions on Compliance matters and in particular on French requirements
- Drawing-up and updating compliance-related Policies and Procedures in accordance with applicable regulation and Group requirements;
- Working with Legal, Controllers, Internal Audit, Technology, Operations (Client onboarding) and other areas within Compliance, or the business, to enhance the speed and ease of obtaining information to complete your mission.
- Collaborating with other Compliance areas and the business to produce responses to information requests ahead of regulatory audits/reviews/reports
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate, preferably with a Legal degree or Finance related. Fluent in English
- Good skills of the French and European banking and financial regulation (AMF, ACPR, ESMA, AMLA) and in particular Anti-Money Laundering regulations
- Able to work in an international environment with various regulations (MIFID, MAR, AML EU Directives…)
- Must understand the importance of and be able to work to tight deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience between 2 to 4 years in Compliance in a banking/financial services-related environment in France is a pre-requisite.
- Keen to learn new information, adopt new skills and with the ability to identify and make improvements to systems and processes.
- Calm, with good oral, interpersonal and written communications skills and an authoritative manner.
- Concern for accuracy, with good attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, presentation and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
The successful candidate needs to be able to work cross-functionally and confidently with colleagues and employees both in-country and abroad as wells as at all levels of the organization. He/She must be able to think on his/her feet, often providing inputs into Line Of Business compliance matters in high profile and/or time constrained situations.

- Very good knowledge of ACPR/AMF and European regulations
- Analytical mind
- Good understanding of risk analysis processes
- The ability to make sound decisions, including escalation when appropriate, in regard of regulatory risks
- Ability to build strong working relationships with central and business aligned functions across the region and co-ordinate with the global and regional Compliance teams
- Fluency in French and English is essential.
