Position Responsibilities:
1. Compliance Strategy & Culture
- Support the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and senior management in fostering a strong culture of ethics and compliance across Manulife Vietnam (MVL).
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with business units and compliance stakeholders to promote effective compliance practices.
2. Advisory & Policy Governance
- Provide expert advisory to process owners on the design, development, and implementation of internal policies, standards, and frameworks covering corporate compliance risk management (including Privacy & Data Protection, Records Management, and regulatory compliance).
- Ensure corporate compliance policies, procedures, and governance frameworks are well-documented, maintained, and effectively implemented.
- Advise and support business units in establishing compliant processes aligned with regulatory requirements.
3. Risk Management & Oversight
- Partner with the First Line of Defense (1LOD) to identify, assess, monitor, and report corporate compliance risks to the CCO.
- Oversee adherence to policies and procedures within assigned business units and products.
- Monitor regulatory developments, assess their impact, and update control frameworks accordingly.
- Coordinate and conduct in-depth analysis of complex compliance issues, providing practical and sustainable solutions.
4. Monitoring, Testing & Reporting
- Lead and execute compliance review programs (scheduled and ad hoc) focusing on regulatory compliance risk management and adherence to legal and internal standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of compliance reports at business unit and divisional levels.
- Maintain and update global compliance systems (e.g., Archer).
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Represent Corporate Compliance in business and functional risk committees, providing independent oversight and guidance.
- Engage with regulators as required and support regulatory interactions.
- Participate in industry forums and working groups to address emerging compliance issues and share best practices.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure alignment between compliance requirements and business objectives.
6. Training & Capability Building
- Develop and deliver targeted compliance training programs for business units and compliance teams to enhance awareness and capability.
7. Projects, Leadership & Operational Support
- Lead and contribute to strategic, cross-functional, and regional/global compliance initiatives.
- Provide oversight and backup support for key compliance activities (e.g., incident reporting, exception handling, marketing material reviews).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• College/University Degree and/or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of related insurance, financial services, compliance and management experience.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong technology skills including knowledge of applicable compliance or business systems
• Strong ethical compass
• Comprehensive knowledge of the financial services industry with an advanced understanding of the Company’s businesses.
• Advanced understanding of the regulatory environment in which the Company operates and as strong understanding of key compliance requirements applicable to the business.
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to facilitate decision making across groups in the company
• Ability to embrace change; strong change management skills.
• Ability to analyze technical information, make appropriate recommendations to decision makers and ability to make decisions Decision.
Preferred qualification:
Experience, knowledge and qualification in Data Privacy, Risk and Control is a plus.
