COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR
Job Summary
The PD Compliance Coordinator is responsible for providing expertise, guidance, communications, training, and audit and analytical support across multiple departments to ensure Power Delivery (PD) compliance obligations are met. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide oversight and coordination in the Energy Regulation/NERC Standards risk area. The primary standards could include Event Reporting (EOP), Protection and Control (PRC), Facilities, Design, Connections and Maintenance (FAC), or Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards for APC Power Delivery organization. The role encompasses monitoring and investigating incidents, coordinating compliance activities, conducting and supporting audits, maintaining required documentation, developing reports and training materials, delivering training and facilitating communication across Power Delivery organizations. On occasion, this position could be assigned special projects or assignments in other risk areas within PD Compliance. The successful candidate must have or develop a clear understanding of which regulations and policies apply in given situations, gather information through interviews and observation, review records, and assess whether APC Power Delivery is complying. The position requires strong organizational, technical, and communication skills to monitor compliance, maintain internal controls, manage special projects, and support compliance governance processes across PD. The candidate must be able to clearly articulate both verbally and in writing and clearly document their work consistently.
The actual reporting location may be dependent on the location of the successful candidate. This position has growth potential to Level 7 based on experience and performance.
Job Responsibilities
Compliance Responsibilities
• Become a subject matter resource (“go‐to person”) for assigned NERC Standards, assigned risk areas, and policies.
• Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to monitor compliance activities and develop/update Reliability Standard Audit Worksheet (RSAW) for assigned standards.
• Gather data, coordinate evidence reviews, and support internal control assessments.
• Upload required data submittals and other documentation.
• Review and comment on policy or standard revisions; participate in NERC drafting teams when needed.
• Work closely with SCS Operations Compliance and other departments to identify, assess, and report potential non-compliance and assist with mitigation plans.
• Apply compliance knowledge to help PD organizations identify and track regulatory requirements.
Coordination Responsibilities
• Maintain required compliance documentation.
• Manage special projects affecting PD compliance requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate PD responses for governance bodies and senior leadership.
• Assist in planning training meetings, governance reviews, and compliance committees. Training, Reporting & Communication
• Develop new training materials and maintain existing programs, partnering with corporate training personnel.
• Create and enhance reporting tools including Power BI dashboards.
• Oversee SharePoint sites, web pages, and communication content.
• Support broad communication of compliance initiatives, audit tips, policy guidelines, and results.
Project & Relationship Management
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Build and sustain effective relationships across Power Delivery, Corporate Compliance and other partners.
• Collaborate with compliance peers and cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and a culture of compliance.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 5 years experience in utility operations, planning, design, maintenance, protection & control, or compliance.
• Valid Driver's license
PREFERRED:
• Engineering degree - Other degrees considered with substantial utility or compliance experience.
• Experience in electric utility generation, transmission, and/or distribution
• Experience supporting NERC Reliability Standards implementation, monitoring, or enforcement
• Experience leading team or organizational efforts
• Experience identifying opportunities for process efficiencies and implementing process improvements
• Experience successfully working across multiple organizations
• Experience supporting audits
• Experience developing and maintaining documentation including policies, procedures, and/or guidance documents
• Experience organizing and leading meetings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability with Power BI and report creation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Understanding of NERC Reliability Standards, compliance governance, and regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of utility equipment, control schemes, and internal controls.
• Familiarity with business risk management, governance practices, and information gathering techniques (audits, investigations, QA reviews).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
