Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and timely compliance and certifications support to other teams in the company (Operations, Quality Sales, Legal, Marketing, EHS, Software Engineering and Production)
  • Manage and organize all mechanical related product certification and compliance documents for the company
  • Manage all assigned mechanical compliance and certification projects for the company with the 3rd-party test houses and certification agencies
  • Help to onboard, train and mentor incoming compliance & certifications team new hires when needed. Experience as a trainer or a mentor is a plus.
  • Assist with writing formal SOPs and guidance documentation for Compliance and Certification matters when needed
  • Provide product safety compliance expertise and guidance when needed. Also work directly with the EHS Team to give product safety guidance and help to expand on the company's Product Safety Process
  • Provide insight and analysis on new solar tracker standards development activities and participate in both national and international standards technical committees (examples: UL, ANSI, ASTM, CEN, IEC, ISO and BIS)
  • Provide certification guidance to various offices and technical support to certification test labs (as needed). Moderate business travel to the North / South Americas, EU, Middle East and Asia regions is expected (25-30% of the year)

Required Skillsets

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of overall compliance industry experience (7+ years preferred)
  • 3+ years experience with ASTM related standards for metals and metal assemblies and structures
  • 3+ years of working in the Product Safety Compliance field (Quality, Reliability and/or Environmental compliance experience a plus)
  • Is detail-oriented, organized and can actively communicate on a project’s status and major issues
  • Has experience working with manufacturers, suppliers and certification test labs / agencies on a global level (i.e. Australia, India, China, Brazil, US, Canada and the EU)
  • Comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally with other teams and project stakeholders
  • Can quickly assess and comprehend issues / problems and then provide rapid turnaround for resolutions, next steps, viable options and potential fixes
  • Has a proactive attitude and always willing to take the lead on assigned compliance / certification related tasks and projects
  • Has experience with public-speaking and is comfortable with giving formal in-person presentations. Generating presentation slides in PowerPoint is an expected job duty

Preferred Background

  • 3+ years of formal certifications experience working directly with or employed under a compliance test lab such as UL, TUV SUD, SGS, NTS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably with hardware and/or in the solar industry (PV panels, solar array commissioning and solar trackers). Experience with UL 2703 is a plus.
  • Having a PE license is also a plus
  • 3+ years of safety or design verification type compliance testing with a basic understanding of compliance testing including certification concepts, processes, procedures and methods
  • 3+ years experience with UL, CSA, ASTM, IEC, ISO, IEEE and Europe-based compliance standards (Brazil and India certifications experience such as ANATEL / INMETRO and BIS is a plus)
  • Proficient with using spreadsheets (MS Excel and/or Google Sheets)
  • 1+ years experience using JIRA and Confluence project management applications
  • 2+ years of management and/or team leader experience. Having managed 5 or more direct reports is a plus

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $160,000 - $170,000.
