WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Hours 8AM to 5PM EST (Monday through Friday)
- This is not a remote position.
- Policy Implementation Assists in the implementation of the privacy principles, policies, practices, coordinates, and monitors facility activities with privacy implications to assure appropriate privacy practices.
- Meeting Participation Attends department specific meetings and training as requested.
- Investigation Response Coordinates responses to investigations and consistent application of corrective actions for items on non-compliance.
- Policy and Procedure Coordinates with Facility Leadership on the establishment, implementation and adherence to policies on patient privacy, confidentiality and Use and Disclosure of Protected Health Information.
- Patient Records Coordinates with other departments on maintaining the accuracy of and correcting patient records.
- Regulatory Compliance Ensures facility compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Patient Information Records Ensures that record custodians correctly protect patient information.
- Policy and Procedure Exercises independent judgment in evaluating issues and resolving issues, including direct reporting to the leadership team.
- Deviation Identification Identifies potential deviations and effectively intervenes when risks from established practices are identified.
- Training and Development Increases the awareness of the organization's efforts to preserve patient privacy. This includes delivery of privacy training and awareness.
- Compliance Inspection Inspects area for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and makes recommendations for preventative steps and corrective action when violations occur.
- Training and Development Monitors training on compliance issues and identifies any knowledge gaps.
- Privacy Dispute Oversees or assists with patient privacy disputes, requests for changes and restrictions to their medical record.
- Policy Compliance Oversees or assists with the implementation and adherence to policies on patient privacy, confidentiality and Use and Disclosure of Protected Health Information.
- Compliance Management Oversees the integrity of business practices by compliance with the organization's Code of Conduct.
- Project Planning Plans and coordinates the development and delivery of concurrent projects relating to privacy as needed.
- Project Prioritization Prioritizes projects based on severity, risk, and financial impact.
- Privacy Investigations Receives and coordinates reported confidentiality concerns and conducts highly sensitive privacy investigations to mitigate risks and errors.
- Law and Regulation Compliance Reviews new or revised government healthcare laws and regulations pertaining to privacy and healthcare compliance.
- Risk Management Works closely with the Administrative Director of Privacy Information Security Officer and Leadership to conduct privacy risk assessments and internal privacy audits as appropriate.
- PHI Ensure that any documents containing PHI are stored and disposed of confidentially and securely.
- Facility Risk Assessments and Audits Works closely with the Facility Privacy Officers to conduct privacy risk assessments and internal privacy audits as appropriate.
- Patient Records Oversees patient privacy disputes and requests for changes to their medical record.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree Business, Nursing, Management or a healthcare related field
- Required within one year Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Compliance Certification Board
- Preferred 1 year Compliance and Privacy
- Preferred 1 year Healthcare Privacy
